Skate for 40

Hi all! The article was written shortly before the sad events and it was prompted to publish it by comments on this material, namely, where to get motivation for the movement

Do not judge strictly, summer is coming, let’s go

Sliding in the tube is the best thing in surfing, rushing under the ridge, and, this is happiness … (Cartoon “Catch the wave”)

After all, it’s simple. You either want it or you don’t, what’s the catch? (George Carlin)

It’s too late for me. I can’t become many already (Yuri Loza)

Hi all! I am an IT engineer and, a little, a teacher, that is, a local one), but today I want to talk not about a topic from my profession, but about a hobby that I have always dreamed of doing. A few years ago, I noticed how smooth the asphalt on the sidewalks in Moscow (yes, not everywhere 🙂 makes me want to get on roller skates (I ride a little with my daughter) and get to work. Since I live in the suburbs, it’s not convenient to carry skates or a scooter (minibuses, buses). Monovil is cool, but also not small, and I don’t want motors, even electric ones, yet. On the other hand, my dream is to learn to surf or kite, but geography and age do not allow me to find 10,000 hours 🙂 and learn so well that I enjoy balance and balance. I’ve mastered snowboarding a little, but this is also the season, and there is always something to do on the weekends besides this. And here every day – perfect asphalt … In short, the choice fell on a small (22 inches) peniboard and, for the third year now, I have been riding it to work. YouTube is full of skating videos, so I’ll write what I didn’t find there or didn’t pay attention to:

1. Never step close to the nose (the rule is for a short board, you don’t want to do this on long boards), it’s important that you see all four wheel bolts in front of the toe of the boot. Otherwise, a small stone will stop your exercises for a couple of weeks.

2. When pushing off, do not touch the rear wheel, according to statistics, the second reason for my falls.

3. Do not lower your arms, in every sense) When skating, keep them bent at the elbows for balance, you can like a boxer)

4. Stand slightly leaning forward with your legs slightly bent, this will lower your center of gravity and allow you to be ready for the first and second situations.

5. Loosen the axles to a minimum, but in order not to dangle, this will make it easier to enter turns, and, in the future, to master pumping / carving (so far it’s not very good 🙂

6. Try to ride on both sides (at first it seems not realistic), this will greatly increase your range.

7. Try to put your legs sideways even in small areas, in YouTube for this they offer to make a small jump, but it is enough to simulate it to reduce pressure on the board.

8. I don’t force speed (I don’t go faster than I can get off the board) and I don’t do tricks (need another board, time and age)

9. In crowded places, it is better to get off the board and move it.

10. Carry a brush with you for minimal board cleaning in wet weather.

Bonuses – a feeling of fun on the way to work and home, don’t care about the elevator), well, and the money saved on the subway is probably enough for a new board)

That’s probably all, I love Habr because all the most interesting things are in the comments, I’m ready to answer your questions, thank you!
