  • Warranty period. It must be at least one year. A short-term warranty implies that the device is not so reliable and may fail at the most inopportune moment.

  • Compatibility. Each external battery was tested for compatibility with different laptops, smartphones and the Nintendo Switch portable console. So the authors made sure that each of the power banks is capable of charging the most common types of devices.

  • Appearance. Journalists evaluated the form factor of the devices. They were placed in bags, backpacks and organizers to evaluate their compactness. The researchers tested the ease of use of power banks: build quality, responsiveness of the power button, the presence of charging status indicators, as well as additional functions or accessories.
