What if we make Another Non-Flipper?

The second question – it’s cool, but it’s too big, it won’t fit on a keychain. And so I want to get rid of a bunch of pills and replace them with something.

The third question – he does not have ZigBee. And in the era of smart homes, this is an important thing. But at the same time, it has a screen, a battery, buttons, a complex case… And why do I need a screen and a battery, they are always in my phone.

In general, I want a keychain box that only works when paired with a phone or computer. And I can do it.

What could be there

  1. LF&HF RFID, IR transceiver, 1-wire, Sub-GHZ, GPIO – all the same as Flipper.

  2. The CC2652P adds ZigBee, BLE, and various 2.4GHz proprietary.

  3. There is no battery, there is a Type-C tail and a Type-C hole, which allows you to connect a phone or, sticking one into the other, wear it on a keychain.

  4. Imitation of pills and possibly RFID cards can be done powered by a reader without being connected to a phone.

  5. There is no screen and local control, there is an RGB LED for everything.

  6. The case is silicone, and, in fact, it is obtained by pouring silicone into the mold. This greatly reduces the cost of both the case and assembly, and (with little effort) gives IP67+.

Two ways

The first way is to make from scratch. For many reasons, I would choose something from the ESP32 family as a base MCU + sacrifice some difficult decisions in favor of the lowest achievable price.

The second way is to make it more or less compatible with Flipper on the same STMs, so that the pieces of firmware that work with hardware are compatible, and it is possible to use the developments of this project after modifying and transferring the interface outside. It’s more expensive. This gives a lot more already implemented scenarios. It “parasites” on Flipper’s work… but isn’t that the idea behind the GNU GPL (under which the firmware is licensed)?

When and where

If all is well, then this year in the European Union. I have neither special opportunities nor any special desire to import and certify this to the Russian Federation, Japan or the USA, but when (and if, of course) it is ready, I will lay out all the hardware and drawings of the body equipment under a free license and someone else can do it…

Well, how?

Write in the comments if you think the project is interesting, which of the two ways seems better to you, what else you would like, what you didn’t want, and what the final price seems acceptable.
