Video of the Computer Science Club courses

Computer Science Club Are open lectures on computer science at the St. Petersburg Branch of the Mathematical Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences. CS club branches operate in Novosibirsk and Kazan… Due to the epidemic, all lectures for the fall semester were held online and were available to everyone, regardless of their location. The following courses were taught in the fall semester:

• Fine-grained complexity (I. A. Mikhaylin)

• Software systems architecture (B. N. Gabbasov)

• Computing with infinite data (V. L. Selivanov)

• Neuromorphic computing and neurosimulation (M.O. Talanov)

• An overview course in theoretical computer science (D. M. Itsykson)

• Reinforcement Learning: From Definitions to AlphaZero and Dactyl (S. I. Nikolenko)

In addition to courses consisting of several lectures, the club hosts reports of the Computer Science seminar – these are open lectures from active scientists, popularly telling about a topic. This semester we had the following talks:

• Memory models of programming languages: problems, solutions and directions of development (A. Podkopaev)

• Computer Science meets Immunology, or how computational problems help to analyze diseases (Ya.Safonova)

• Methods and algorithms for planning safe paths for groups of mobile agents (multi-agent path finding) (K. Yakovlev)

Also, on the basis of the Computer Science club, a seminar was held on the course “Algorithms: Advanced Chapters” from Constantine Makarychev. Konstantin has recorded video lectures in Russian for a course he teaches at Northwestern University in the United States. There were very detailed and interesting discussions at the seminars. Seminars were conducted Alexander Shen (LIRMM, Montpellier) and Ilya Razenstein (Microsoft Research). Grigory Yaroslavtsev (Indiana University) was a guest lecturer.
