USDT comes to TON, and dollars come to Telegram

It became clear why Pavel Durov, after a 7-year break, gave two high-profile interviews at once. The day before yesterday, the stablecoin USDT appeared on Telegram Wallet on its TON blockchain, which is simply called “Dollars“.

USDT is now the main instrument for non-bank non-speculative money transfers. Its daily turnover is about $50 billion, which is half the turnover of all cryptocurrencies in general. USDT has become, in fact, “cu.” in the world of crypto. Now TON is included in list of networksin which USDT is traded.

Until recently, the main flow of USDT went through the Ethereum network, which was created by another emigrant from Russia, Vitalik Buterin. Now Tron has caught up with it with lower fees and high transaction speeds. If Telegram, with its almost billion users and a very convenient application, can get there, it will be a game changer.

So far, Durov has free transfers between users, and a very large commission on p2p.

Pavel must be pretty angry at the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) for banning the issuance of Gram tokens in 2019, and the way he emphasized his inflexibility in the face of FBI pressure during his visits to the US in an interview with Tucker Carlson hints that Telegram Wallet will be independent from the American authorities, who are quite successfully trying in every possible way to regulate the crypto business around the world.
