MIPT launches an open online course on sports programming

MIPT together with the Development Fund of PhysTech Schools with the support of the Presidential Grants Fund opened set to the free online course “Quick Start in Sports Programming” for junior students of technical specialties and those who have basic programming skills. The online course is the first step in the RuCode sports programming intensive training project.


You can join the open course until March 15, 2020. It will be designed for four weeks of classes. Each week, students will learn one thematic module and gradually get acquainted with basic algorithms, number theory, dynamic programming and graph theory. The program was worked by experienced coaches of the Moscow Workshops international educational programming project, jury members of various competitions and competitions: Vladislav Nevstroyev, Oleg Khristenko, Philipp Rukhovich and Ilya Stepanov. Classes will be held in the form of video lectures, a large block of tasks will be offered for independent work.

“Participating in sports programming competitions today is an investment in a future career. Many IT companies are actively looking for specialists with olympiad experience, and some former competitors become founders of their own technology startups, ”said Alexei Maleev, MIPT Vice-Rector. “Since 2000, Russia has had 14 absolute victories at the International Student Programming Championship, as the President of Russia recently recalled. This outstanding result indicates the high level of the Russian school, and we hope, together with colleagues from the regions, to enable talented students from any corner of the country to receive advanced knowledge, develop and achieve success on international platforms, ”he added.

At the end of the online course, students will be able to continue to immerse themselves in sports programming as part of the RuCode festival. Students who successfully complete the course before mid-April 2020 will be invited to undergo screening tests to participate in full-time three-day intensives that will take place in Russian regions. Universities and partner organizations from Vladivostok, Yekaterinburg, Izhevsk, Irkutsk, Kazan, Krasnoyarsk, Novosibirsk, Perm, Saratov and Chita have already joined the project.
