where did you study, how long did you look for a job and what happened in the end?

But despite such preparation, at times I looked at the statistics and thought, “I’ve already received so many responses, but I have almost no invitations to interviews, it looks like you can’t get a job in IT without experience.” And in such moments you need to immediately pull yourself together, shut up the inner voice that says this and just keep doing it, sooner or later there will be a result.

As a result, it took me a whole 4 months to find a job. I made 200 job applications, interviewed for 7 positions and ended up receiving 3 offers!

Among them, I chose the IT company “Concept-Development”. I was invited to the position of analyst, with the possibility of completing the track trainee analyst – junior analyst – analyst. In my plan, I want to go this route within 1 year.

Start of internship

It was quite difficult for me, as a beginner, to start working tasks. At first I studied theory, without any practice. But my colleagues who sorted out their tasks with me helped me a lot. I was also pleasantly surprised that in case of any mistakes or delays with deadlines, no one scolds or reprimands anyone. The guys in the company are open to communication, I can turn to any employee for help, not just my mentor. We regularly provide internal training, and you can also undergo external training at the expense of the company.

The project in which I am participating is the development of QCD for a large telecom company. I noted the high engineering culture:

  • We have an architect on our team;

  • there is a code review;

  • all solutions proposed by analysts are validated by the architectural committee;

  • all documentation is maintained;

  • there are rules for naming objects, rules for writing code, etc.

This is a big plus for a beginner – learning to immediately do everything according to the rules.

As a result, the process of transition to a new field took me 1.5 years. And it was worth it. Now I feel the drive, I am very interested in the new job and I am glad that I dared to make this decision.

Therefore, I can advise everyone who is now making an important decision not to be afraid to take the first step. Don’t deviate from the path when faced with difficulties, even in those moments when it seems that it won’t work out, that it’s too difficult, that you can’t keep up, that you can’t get into IT without experience/after courses, etc. Don't compare yourself to others. Keep taking small steps towards your goal and everything will definitely work out!”
