personal life of Android owners, blocking Discord and Tinder from Odnoklassniki

Survey results: Android phone owners have a harder time building relationships

This is evidenced by data from a study conducted by All About Cookies in the USA. They surveyed a thousand people about how they perceived users of another operating system. It turned out that 22% of Apple equipment owners look down on Android users, and 23% are not even ready to build relationships with them.

More specifically, 31% of surveyed men with iPhones would refuse a date to a girl with an Android. Among women, 16% would do the same.

But that’s not all: the survey also showed that 52% of Android users surveyed had experienced jokes about their smartphones. And 36% were completely condemned. Wow!

More fascinating statistics in the material New York Postand in Russian – right here. I wonder what the same study in Russia would show?

Discord is finally done

Discord was blocked on October 8th. This was preceded by a long and almost detective story, when the service was ordered to remove illegal content and was even issued a fine. Subsequently, there were malfunctions in the operation of the platform, and every time they used it they thought: this is what happened. Now it definitely happened. But the flow of news did not stop there.

Then rumors arose about the upcoming blocking of Steam. Soon Roskomnadzor hastened to assure the concerned public that this would not happen. At the same time, the Discord team managed to write a post about how they were solving the problem in Russia and Turkey (the service was also blocked there). But on October 10, the same Roskomnadzor stated that there were no grounds for unblocking.

But that’s not all. After the blocking, users began to actively download TeamSpeak and Skype. The website of the first one even managed to crash due to such interest. But the website of Roskomnadzor itself also crashed briefly, but this time from a DDoS attack. There seems to be no direct connection with the blocking of Discord, but it’s an interesting coincidence.

Such pies. Details e.g. at RBC.

YouTube interferes with the transfer of content to Russian video hosting sites

Another news about the outgoing service – again about YouTube. At the beginning of the week, reports began to appear that bloggers were encountering problems when transferring content from YouTube to RuTube and VK Video. YouTube blocked this process, both from Russian and foreign IP addresses.

However, experts (real ones, not armchair ones) hastened to explain that it is unlikely that content makers are being deliberately put in the way. It’s just that the site as a whole has become more active in combating automated information collection.

Kommersant studied the topic.

Odnoklassniki is creating a new dating service

The Odnoklassniki social network decided it was time. They create a dating service aimed at their own audience. That is, for an adult (read: solvent). The service will work both inside Odnoklassniki and as a separate application. Everything will work for free, but some options can be purchased.

Quote again from Kommersant: dating will be designed for an audience that is accustomed to “traditional mechanics of dating and interacting with other people on the Internet.” We will find out what kind of mechanics these are in 2025. That's when they want to put it into operation.

That's all, let's continue to keep our finger on the pulse.
