Overview of domestic 24 inch monitors

Recently there has been a lot of news about domestic monitors, mice, keyboards and many other computer equipment, the production of which was established in our country. And this is not surprising, in recent years the demand for domestic electronics has been growing due to various government incentives and foreign sanctions. Today we will consider how things are with monitors from the Register of “Industrial Products Manufactured on the Territory of the Russian Federation”.

We have selected the following monitors for review:
Beshtau M24FHD, manufactured by Beshtau Electronics LLC (Essentuki)
LightCom V-Lite-S, manufactured by Lightcom LLC (Zelenograd)
RDW2401K, manufacturer of RDV Technology LLC. (Moscow city)

We will evaluate according to the following criteria:
– according to the information content of the manufacturer’s website and product passport;
– on packing and a complete set;
– appearance and design;
– image quality and compliance with the declared technical characteristics;
– as well as the most important thing in terms of hardware stuffing.

To assess the image quality (uniformity and brightness), we will use a special device – a TKA-PKM 02 luminance meter. Using it, we will measure the brightness when white is displayed in the center of the screen, in 4 corners and in the middle of each of the 4 sides (9 points in total) . But on the basis of these measurements, we determine the uniformity of the screen brightness. For the best results in a particular comparison, points will be awarded. As a result, the monitor that scores more points will win and let’s see how our score matches the score of the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

Monitor Passport

All three monitors have approximately the same characteristics (well, we actually chose the same ones), the websites of the companies provide enough information about the products. So it’s impossible to single out a leader yet.

Packaging and equipment

Undoubtedly, Beshtau has the most beautiful packaging, but a spelling mistake in the word “registry” spoils the impression a little. RDW and Lightcom profess a minimalist style.

RDW, includes monitor, stand, power cord, VGA cord, passport

It is very embarrassing that the RDW monitor is equipped with a VGA cable, while the rest have HDMI cables attached. It is also worth noting that Beshtau and Lightcom packages are equipped with a plastic handle, which seems like a trifle, but it is much more convenient to carry.

Therefore, we award one point to Beshtau for design and handle. Half a point to Lightcom for the pen.

Appearance and design

To assemble the monitor and stand Beshtai and RDW, you will need a Phillips screwdriver.

The Lightcom stand can be assembled without any additional tools, just a simple plastic latch. But holding on tight.

The Beshtau monitor boasts thin bezels around the matrix, as well as its thickness. The weight of the product is also pleasing, only 2.9 kg! The body of the monitor is made of fairly high-quality matte plastic. The monitor stand is made of metal alloy.

The LightCom monitor also has thin bezels. The stand is made of high-quality matte plastic, like the monitor case itself.

The RDW monitor can no longer boast of thin frames, as well as the quality of the plastic from which the product is made.

Thus, Beshtau and LightCom monitors stand out for their modern appearance. Beshtau receives 1 point for the modern look and quality of the plastic. LightCom gets 0.5 points for plastic quality.

Brightness Options

When measuring the brightness of monitors at 9 different points on the screen, the following results were obtained

Beshtau M24FHD

LightCom V-Lite-S

RDW2401K

Monitor Beshtau showed a brightness of 300 cd / m2, which turned out to be even more than stated in the passport. This is more of a plus than a minus. But the picture is also spoiled by the greatest unevenness in brightness. As for the LightCom monitor, the brightness of its display corresponds to the declared one, and although it is slightly inferior to Beshtau in terms of maximum brightness, it turned out to be better in terms of average value and deviation of brightness unevenness. The RDW monitor, although it corresponds to the declared value of the display brightness, but it is significantly less than that of competitors. But it has the least uneven brightness. Thus, it is again difficult to identify the winner, Beshtau 1 point for maximum brightness. RDW for minimal unevenness, and 1.5 points to Lightcom for being brighter than RDW and having less deviation than Beshtau.

Internal stuffing

Here we come to the most interesting. That, thanks to which each of the monitors receives the conclusion that he is Russian. The monitor has the following main components:
– matrix
– video controller board
– power board
– other boards with control buttons and speakers.

Traditionally, let’s start with Beshtau

There is no factory sticker on the matrix (as well as traces of its removal). It is a pity, since this information did not interfere in case of self-replacement of the matrix in case of repair. But by the serial number on the board and using the site https://www.panelook.com/ it can be assumed that the HKC matrix is used, which is quite well-known in China. Its main parameters are:
• Diagonal – 23.8 inches;
• Resolution – 1920 x 1080;
• Coverage NTSC 70%;
• Refresh rate 60 Hz;
• Contrast 1200:1.

On the video controller board, as well as on the other printed circuit boards used in the monitor, the Beshtau emblem flaunts, applied by silk-screen printing. The matrix controller is the Mediatek mt9700 chip.

Flux traces on the board hint to us that the board is most likely assembled in the territory of the Russian Federation, and this is good, since this is a mandatory requirement for the monitor to be considered domestically produced.

The power supply also has the Beshtau logo, but it’s embarrassing that the warning labels are in English. Summarizing this monitor, I would like to note that the fasteners of the components are of high quality.

LightCom

We immediately draw your attention to the fact that the stickers with the matrix markings are in place. This suggests that the manufacturer has nothing to hide about the origin of their product.

The matrix manufacturer is the Chinese company BOE, which is known not only in the domestic market, but also in the world. It ranks first in terms of production in China, as well as second in the world. It owns a third of the world market, and its matrices are used by companies such as Samsung, Sony, etc. This suggests that the matrices are really of high quality, and the monitor manufacturer, as they say, did not stint, since he preferred a more reliable matrix. Its main characteristics:
• Diagonal – 23.8 inches;
• Resolution – 1920 x 1080;
• Coverage NTSC 74%;
• Refresh rate 60 Hz;
• Contrast 1000:1.

This also explains why Lightcom outperformed Beshtau in terms of brightness parameters.

The video controller board has all the signs of domestic electronics, ESKD designations and the name in Russian. As a control microcontroller on the board, a domestic K1986BE92QI microcircuit from Milandr is used.

The logos on the video controller board also say that Milandr had a hand in its development. All this clearly indicates that the board is designed and manufactured in the territory of the Russian Federation, and this is a huge plus for the Lightcom monitor.

As for the power supply board, we again see that the warning labels are in English, which indicates rather the foreign origin of the board.

RDW

Now it’s the turn of the RDW monitor. The layout of the internal part of all monitors is similar, so we will not dwell on this for a long time. We are interested in three specific components. For some reason, the marking sticker of the matrix has been torn off, and why – one can only guess.

But, as in the first case, by the serial number of the board, we find out that the matrix of the Taiwanese company AUO is used. It is one of the leading thin liquid crystal panel manufacturers in China. The main parameters of the matrix are:
• Diagonal – 23.8 inches;
• Resolution – 1920 x 1080;
• Coverage NTSC 72%;
• Refresh rate 60 Hz;
• Contrast 1000:1.

And here we come across a very interesting moment. It turns out that this matrix is made using VA technology. While the passport and the manufacturer’s website say that an IPS matrix is \u200b\u200binstalled. I do not presume to compare which of their technologies is better or worse, but for example, graphic designers prefer IPS and may be deceived by such a free replacement.

The video controller board uses the MStar Semiconductors TSUMP38CDMT9-1 matrix controller. In addition, the board itself is definitely not assembled, and even more so it was not developed on the territory of the Russian Federation. This board can be bought on sites for repairmen for example here https://www.tvlcdparcasi.com/index.php?route=product/product&manufacturer_id=66&product_id=6402 or here https://www.globalsources.com/TFT-LCD/LCD-screen-1189060792p.htm.

On the power supply, again, warning labels are made in English, so this is also an imported purchased unit. This raises many questions about the alleged Russian origin of the RDW monitor.

Let’s sum up the intermediate and final results:

Monitor Beshtau one point for the build quality and one point for its own matrix controller board. For a power supply fee, although it has their logo on it, no hand is raised to rate it. The LightCom monitor got one point for build quality, one point for its own controller board, and one point for using domestic chips. RDW remains without points.

Total
Beshtau – 5 points
LightCom – 5.5 points
RDW – 1 point

The RDW monitor cannot even boast of the quality of the materials. Even the use of a good matrix does not save him, which, as it turned out, does not correspond to the declared one. In the point rating of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, this monitor also has only 90 points

Monitors Beshtau captivate with good appearance and quality of materials. The picture quality is quite good, corresponds to the declared one, but the matrix can be improved. The company is now conducting aggressive marketing to promote its products to the market. And we can only wish them success. The Beshtau monitor was rated by the Ministry of Industry and Trade at 110 points.

The LightCom monitor made the greatest impression. Since initially we did not even know about this company. The monitor pleases with its appearance and thin display frames, which, together with a high-quality matrix, is the best for work. And the use of domestic microcircuits can only cause the deepest respect. Thus, this monitor deservedly, albeit with a minimal margin, wins. If LightCom will carry out the same aggressive advertising activities as Beshtau, then they will be a real success. Monitor Lightcom is rated by the Ministry of Industry and Trade at 140 points.

So if you decide to buy a domestic monitor, then only 2 monitors can be worthy competitors – Beshtau and LightCom.

Well, as a cherry on our review – prices from Yandex Market for these models:
Beshtau M24FHD – from 21550 rubles
LightCom V-Lite-S – from 22390 rubles
RDW2401K – from 31070 rubles
