Now without SAP. What is happening to the ERP market in Russia

For comparison: in 2021, according to GorodRabot.Ru, the salary was 89 thousand rubles. By March 2024, it had grown to 136 thousand rubles.

But all this is on the one hand. On the other hand, there is a logical possibility that in a few years SAP and Oracle specialists will be unique personnel. And their value, on the contrary, may increase. First of all, among those companies that will continue to use Western systems and independently modify them to suit their needs.

Also, the demand for such personnel may continue thanks to service companies. They still continue to support foreign products, albeit with their own resources. And so far the situation looks like that without official support from vendors, the demand for their services can only increase.

What's next

Market prospects are difficult to predict. Much depends on when exactly Western vendors will return to Russia and will this happen at all?.

In the meantime, I can assume that domestic ERP systems will develop in at least three directions. In the next couple of years, developers will begin to invest more:

  • to cloud solutions: clients are increasingly connecting virtual version of 1C by subscription. Thus, they do without capital investments, can work with new products in testing mode and use them as a safety net for the time being until Western vendors return to Russia. The main task of domestic developers here is to offer a worthy alternative that companies will have time to get used to and begin to trust.

  • to accelerate the implementation of new solutions. Everything is obvious here: long and complex migration in the current realities is a problem for any business. If this problem is not solved, then it will be easier for organizations to support foreign ERP systems on their own or connect service companies for this.

  • in the development of specialized modules for various industries. So far, domestic decisions on this indicator lag behind Western ones.

Let me clarify: everything described above is just my opinion, which was formed on the basis of several years of working with ERP solutions (mostly Russian). Perhaps you have more experience and see the current situation and prospects differently. Especially if you are developing SAP or other foreign products in companies.

If so, share your thoughts in the comments. I'm interested in what you think about the future and the situation with the ERP market in general.
