Higher education in IT and salaries

On September 30, the salary survey, which we conduct every six months, ended. This time, in addition to the classic questions about grades and salaries, we asked respondents to indicate their level of education in order to analyze the relationship between salary, working conditions and academic education.

79% of respondents have higher education.

300 thousand rubles — this is the median salary of IT specialists who have completed graduate school or have a candidate or doctorate degree.

For specialists and masters, the median salary was 252 thousand rubles

IT specialists with secondary general education have the same median salary as specialists with a bachelor's degree, — 200 thousand rubles

Median salary for specialists with secondary vocational education — 159 thousand rubles

Level of education has little effect on the ability to work remotely. 61% of respondents with secondary general education work remotely — this is the maximum value. The minimum for those who have completed a specialty or master's degree is 55%. The difference is 6%.

The situation with place of residence is different. The pattern is not visible. 75% — 85% of respondents live in Russia.

The dependence of the format of labor relations on the level of education is traced. IT specialists with higher education more often work under an employment contract, which means they are better protected from the point of view of the law. This is probably due to the fact that large companies that employ workers “on the job” and are committed to long-term cooperation more often pay attention to the applicant’s higher education.
