The code actually uses a tall, narrow image, but it's nicer to look at.

The light part at the top and at the very bottom is the text and code. The striped part at 20% of the height is the diagram. The dark part, which takes up the most space, is the text on the diagram (yes, there is no font used).

A few bright pixels in the middle of the text? Those are Unicode characters, mostly punctuation marks like apostrophes and ellipses.

In fact, we only saved on matches here: the original version, compressed via gzip, takes up 88 kilobytes, and the version compressed via WebP and gzip takes up 83 kilobytes. At the same time, Brotli would have given out 69 kilobytes. Anything is better than nothing.
