Development Management

This year, a new section appeared – “Development Management”. It was assembled by Elena Berezkina, project manager Green Dataco-founder Communities of project managers of Perm; Regina Kuragina, Project Manager SimbirSoftco-founder Communities of project managers of Perm; Alexander Torgashov, Delivery manager T-Bank.

When preparing the conference, it seemed that the main audience would be concentrated in traditional sections. But in practice, it turned out that among the participants of Ural Digital Weekend there are many managers who want to learn more about the experience of their colleagues in managing and organizing the processes of developing digital products.

Over several months, the guys put together very rich reports on various topics: planning, metrics, flexible methodologies, engineering processes and their optimization, people management, team formation and development, management tools and increasing development efficiency. The section was aimed at Product managers, Project managers, Delivery managers, team leads, scrum masters and everyone who is somehow connected with the management and organization of development processes.

We share impressions from Elena Berezkina, who is acting as a member of the Program Committee and moderator of the section for the first time:

“I really liked the experience of organizing, I definitely want to participate next year! I liked that there was a lot of interest in our section, the hall was always full, there were many questions from the audience – this means that we did everything right.”

Alexander Torgashov also shared a review:

“This was my first experience as a Program Committee member. My goal was to select interesting papers and prepare speakers for excellent presentations so that they would be useful for the audience. Apparently, my expectations were met: I managed to select valuable materials for the “Development Management” section, establish personal contact with the speakers and answer many questions from the participants. Overall, I consider this experience positive, but of course, there is always room for improvement.”

Russian Digital Elevator Pitch

We repeated the format of last year, which the audience liked — Russian Digital Elevator Pitch. Where we held a public presentation of recently launched or upcoming Internet services. with the participation of investors and experts. This time the co-organizer of the format was the company BSL. The format consisted of a 5-7 minute presentation of the projects and subsequent discussion of these projects by the jury members.

Site and activities

Conference participants not only listened to the reports, but also had time to join in informal activities

Conference participants not only listened to the reports, but also had time to join in informal activities

The venue on the Kama bank with a cozy space inside and beautiful views around has already become a feature of the event. And for the second year, participants have noted it among the advantages of the conference. It is comfortable to listen to reports, relax during breaks, communicate, meet new people, participate in entertainment – in a word, do everything that is inherent in any IT conference.

Every year we try to bring something new to the entertainment part of the conference. At the same time, we leave the favorite activities of the participants, for example, giant Jenga and kicker. One of the most unusual and memorable entertainments this year was edible flowers from our partner Ninga Goods.

“Electric” flowers have become an absolute hit

The participants’ attention was also concentrated around the stand of our other partner – Circuit.

The outdoor part of the site was not forgotten either. Mini golf and karting were located near Digital Port. The latter was popular among the participants, even in rainy weather.

Also on the street part of the site there is a food zone with a wide variety of food from our partners.

And inside the site they placed another unusual activity – a giant coloring book with the main sights of the city, IT images and the theme of the conference.

And our other partner, Lines organized a lounge area with charging barrels and a DJ.

The area was a comfortable place to solve work tasks, network, or just relax.

Afterparty

Right after the content part, an afterparty took place in the same location. This time, guests were surprised with a master class on making tinctures. The program also included classic activities: DJ sets, steam cocktails, strong drinks and an MC who kept the audience entertained.

Pre-party

As the last 2 years have shown, the pre-party at UDW is a great opportunity to get to know the participants and the city in advance. And the day before the content part, on August 1, the pre-party took place. It was traditionally organized by our partners from Alto. Every year colleagues make the party better and better! The program includes: steam cocktails, drinks with digital and Ural aromas, stylish atmosphere and lots of communication.

Excursion

The Ural Digital Weekend program did not end with the content part of the first day — there is an excursion ahead. As with activities, we believe that the excursion is an equally important component of the event. And every year we find new interesting places that Perm guests have not yet visited. This time we went through many options. We settled on the format of a walking tour of the city with a walk along the Kama in addition. It turned out to be eventful!

Team

In such a large and large-scale project, it is difficult to do without a cool and well-coordinated team. Organizers, Program Committee, volunteers, technical specialists, photographers, videographers. According to our calculations, there are more than a hundred of them. And among them are people who took the most active part in the organization and closed the largest blocks of work.
