For the past few years, only the lazy have not talked about the competition of neobanks with traditional players. However, while discussing the advantages and disadvantages of the new services, many did not notice that a new promising market has grown around neobanks.

This market is an ecosystem of specialized startups, which allows neobanks to use the best technologies, insure risks and solve issues related to regulators. In the French market, Treezor is one of the leaders in digital banking services (BaaS).

Treezor began its activities as an open banking platform. The service is a 100% API platform that facilitates payment management for fintech companies and non-banks. The main feature of the company is the license of the payment institution. Treezor customers can issue bank cards and add them to Apple Pay and Google Pay, open an account – a full IBAN, to which you can receive transfers. Thus, a combination of technologies and a license allow the company to act as a back-end for digital banking.

A few numbers:

  • Revenue growth: + 480% in 2018, + 200% in 2019
  • Bank Cards Issued: 850,000+
  • Amount of payments and processed transactions: more than 15 billion euros

In 2019, the company was acquired by Société Générale. Thanks to this transaction, under a Treezor license, entrepreneurs can offer financial services to any EU customer from 28 countries in the Eurozone. In addition, as part of Société Générale, Treezor customers receive better protection of personal and financial data, and the startup itself has access to services such as risk management, etc.

The benefits of such a partnership have been appreciated by many companies. Treezor’s customer is Qonto, one of the largest French neobanks (the company also operates in Germany, Italy and Spain). Treezor also launches the Zelf neobank, which offers to perform all banking operations through instant messengers.

Treezor also plans to develop Marketpalce to offer non-banks and fintech companies an even more convenient ecosystem for digital banking.
