The processor that will be installed in the motherboards of the Russian-Chinese company is called KaiXian KX-6640MA. This is an octa-core chip developed on a 16nm process technology. The frequency is 2.7 GHz, the chip contains controllers for 16 PCI Express 3.0 lines, USB and SATA.
Separately, it is worth noting the absence of an L3 cache, but the presence of an L2 cache with 4 MB in two clusters. This, plus the lack of multithreading, makes the processor less productive than chips from AMD or Intel. Nevertheless, as an alternative, it is quite suitable for itself – for performing not particularly “heavy” tasks.
The chip has already been run through tests using Geekbench 5. It turned out that in single-core mode the result of the processor is 355 points, in multi-core mode – 2187. Even “smartphone” processors show higher results. When compared with conventional chips, its results are similar to the Intel Core 2 Quad Q8400 from 2009. As for the multi-core mode, the Intel Core i5-2500 from 2011 shows similar results.
But be that as it may, the chip is produced by the Chinese and works, it is suitable for installation in office PCs and laptops.
Practical use of the processor
This is not a prototype, but quite a working chip, which is already used in laptops and mini-PCs. In particular, about a week ago news was published that the Russian company Tonk has released the TONK TN4004 laptop based on the Zhaoxin KX6640MA x86 processor.
The laptop has an 8-core KaiXian KX-6640MA processor with a core frequency of 2.1 to 2.6 GHz. Plus, it also has an integrated graphics adapter that is capable of processing 4K video. Chip heat dissipation – 25 W.
The laptop has an aluminum body and an IPS-matrix with Full HD.
Another processor from Zhaoxin is installed in the ultrabook Kaitian N7. It has its own system on a chip. The Lenovo SoC handles events such as lid opening, mute, fast charging, light detection, and so on. The difference of the device is that it is created on the basis of hardware and software, which is developed exclusively in China.
In general, Dannie plans to supply more than just motherboards. It also develops smart cameras, digital panels, trackers and industrial controllers. Working with the Chinese makes it possible to partially cover the need for Western technologies in order, so to speak, to lay eggs in different baskets. Of course, it will not be possible to completely eliminate the need for these technologies, but it is gratifying that some steps are being taken in this direction.
