The Last Human

“Robotization: The Last Human” is a first-person Survival horror computer game developed by Russian indie developer Ten Art Games for the Windows platform and currently has only game demo.

The game takes place in a fictional universe, where the world has suffered a dangerous virus that captures the bodies and minds of people. You will find yourself involved in investigations into the origin of this virus, while trying not to lose your mind.

When creating the game, the authors were inspired by the products of the well-known studio Frictional Games, trying to get a similar oppressive atmosphere. The game was developed from scratch by one person who founded Ten Art Games — Artem Yurkov on Unreal Engine 4 since 2018. During development, the game has undergone many total revisions until it has achieved its current look.

At the moment, the full version of the game is completed by 80% of the total development, to enter the market, but in February 2023 it acquired game demo 1.2.12.

Game process

Robotization: The Last Human is a game in the genre [[survival horror]], its gameplay also includes elements of stealth and puzzles. The game contains the mechanics of fear and clouding of reason, which decreases with long-term observation of the factors that affect the protagonist, causing disgust or fear. Under severe stress, the hero of the game (Alex) has various types of hallucinations, and also has a chance to lose consciousness, which can lead to a sad outcome. As the story progresses, the player will replenish Alex’s diary with thoughts, as well as find useful information about the place in which he ended up.

There are no weapons in the game to fend off enemies, so the player should try to find ways to avoid them by hiding in the darkness and distract them from themselves using interactive items found in the area. Interaction with objects makes it possible to move, rotate, move away and bring them closer for the task we need. These items can distract the enemy, block the door, make an impromptu rise, with random interaction, you can also bring trouble in the form of the same enemy.

Plot

The story of the game takes place in a utopian universe where humanity is on the verge of extinction. The reason for this was not so long ago fallen meteorites, which brought with them an unknown infection affecting the minds of people. The protagonist of the story, Alex, is one of the remaining healthy people. While on the run from unknown creatures, he ended up in a once medical complex in search of shelter in the hope of finding survivors, but then learns that this is more a prison than anything else. In this institution, before the infection, experiments were conducted on people behind closed walls. Pouring various mutagens into patients that change their structure, by order of the main center – the Robotization Complex, mutated people in a berserk state, wreaking havoc, were supposed to become a laboratory rat as a demonstration of the mutagen’s capabilities, to further create cybernetic fighters for military purposes, but the human basis , turned out to be a complete collapse, thanks to the emerging virus that took over the killing machines. Alex, surrounded by various enemies, has to extract bits of information, trying to find a way out of this terrible place, while trying not to lose himself.

Development history

Originally back in 2017, the concept of the game was far from the current project. There were ideas to make the game similar in mechanics to the popular Hello Neighbor game at the time, but due to hardware problems, the project was eventually lost. After that, the author was imbued with the idea of creating a game inspired by the now already Red Barrels series of games – Outlast. The initial ideas were closer to the first part with their gameplay and storytelling, you had to hide from a robotic creature in a specialized base, hiding in lockers and picking up batteries for a flashlight, but after, in 2019, the game began to gain some popularity among a small audience, from which development took a different path, targeting the trading market, acquiring a study of mechanics, locations, lore of the game, and ultimately had a complete reworking of everything, taking games like Penumbra and Amnesia as an example. By now, the project is nearing completion, having released demo versionand has its own written level builder for the game, which will be released after the full release.

=== Interesting fact ===

The developer at the time of the start of development was about 10 years old. At the time of writing, he is a 16-year-old boy.
