The other day Alphabet has become the fourth American technology company whose capitalization exceeded the mark of $ 1 trillion. Google’s parent holding company ended up with Apple, Microsoft and Amazon (now worth less than a trillion).

The five most expensive US technology companies (Facebook is added to the list) now account for 17% of the S&P 500 index – in 2015 this value did not exceed 11%. In total, the total capitalization of Apple, Amazon, Alphabet, Microsoft and Facebook today exceeds $ 5.2 trillion.

For five years, the five technology giants have risen in price from $ 3.5 billion. And not everyone likes this. In the United States, voices of those who believe that large technology companies use unfair competition practices are increasingly heard. This is in particular said by US presidential candidates Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders.

In relation to Alphabet, there are accusations that the holding seeks to strengthen its position in the online advertising market and uses the Android mobile OS to reduce competition. Google has repeatedly received fines, and most recently, a lawsuit filed by Sonos, a smart speaker developer, was sued for copying patented technology.

All this did not prevent Alphabet’s capitalization growth. Today, the company’s shares have grown by more than 30% compared to last year. In turn, Apple’s stock price rose more than 100% over the year, while Microsoft and Facebook securities went up more than 50% in the case of each company.
