Teaching, Negotiating, and Consulting Remotely – Part 3: Yealink Meeting Server and 4 Special Offers

In the last article I described Vinteo Server – 3 months of free video conferencing. This article is dedicated to several actions from the company Yealink, which together with its Russian partners prepared a number of anti-crisis proposals in the field of video conferencing.

16-connection license for free

This point requires a separate explanation. The fact is that older models of the Yealink VC800 and VC880 terminals have the functionality of an integrated VKS server (MCU), which is activated by purchasing a separate license. This has nothing to do with Yealink Meeting Server licenses.

Such functionality, built into the terminal client, allows you to close a number of tasks in video communications, without using a server. How it works.

The VC800 or VC880 terminal acts as a server and allows you to collect up to 2 active conferences at the same time with a total number of participants no more than 24 (up to 16 free of charge as part of the action).

VC800 is a professional VKS terminal with support for SIP / H.323 protocols. The codec and camera are integrated into a single housing, the camera optics supports 12-fold increase:

The Yealink VC880 terminal does not have an integrated camera, but it supports the connection of an HDMI source and up to 9 Yealink VCC22 LAN cameras.

It is clear that the built-in MCU will not give even the functionality that YMS.

But still, getting 16 competitive participants in 2 conferences at a terminal price is a significant benefit.

Moreover, it is not necessary to use this top-end Yealink model as the rest of the customers – younger models are suitable for small meeting rooms:

3 year warranty

All Yealink products, including VKS hardware terminals and Yealink Meeting Server software, are shipped with the Yealink AMS (Assurance Maintenance Services) service contract. It includes a hardware warranty, consultation and technical support, as well as the ability to upgrade for YMS.

Previously, the AMS term included in the delivery price was 1 year.

I suggested Yealink to hold another campaign – to reduce the minimum package of YMS licenses for the purchase. But they still doubt the need for such measures.

The fact is that the YMS software server itself does not cost money, payment is only for competitive connections and additional options. At the same time, the server, as I already wrote, is a professional videoconferencing solution that has a large number of convenient and useful functionality. Added to all this is the lack of licensing for point-to-point calls through the YMS server. Such calls do not use a competitive license, but give the user the opportunity to use the entire functionality of the server, including a unified management system, address book and short numbering of subscribers.

In order not to introduce the concept of the cost of a system core, Yealink introduced a minimum number of competitive YMS licenses available for purchase equal to 10. These licenses begin to be used when creating an event with the number of participants starting from three (Calls with two participants, as I wrote above, can be any number – they are not charged).

Since during the crisis, the cost of a minimum package (10 licenses) can become unbearable for a number of enterprises, we initiated a reduction in this number to a minimum of 3 competitive connections.

Thus, at the price of only three YMS licenses, you can get a professional video conferencing system for use, with free unlimited p2p calls through the server, free software and mobile clients, WebRTC support, integration with IP PBX, AD and S4B.
