Sunday flea market near Valencia
To begin with, I suggest getting an idea of such markets. In the video, the flea market is different, but there is no difference.
And here's the one we're talking about:
What's there at the flea market?
I was met by this… cat? Clearly twinned with the famous fox from memes.
I immediately came across two e-readers – with a whole screen and in more or less normal condition. It turned out to be Tagus Iris and Amazon Kindle D01100. Honestly, I don’t need e-readers, but my heart sank as I imagined that they would accidentally step on them and crush the fragile screens (after all, they are not lying on the counter, but practically on the ground). After haggling, I bought both for only 9 euros.
Amazon Kindle D01100
– 4th generation model, released in 2011. It is equipped with a 6‑inch E‑Ink display. The device supports Wi-Fi connectivity and has a built-in memory of 2 GB, which allows you to store up to 1400 books. PDF and other popular formats are supported.
The price for Kindle D01100 on the secondary market ranges from $20 to $40 depending on the condition of the device.
Tagus Iris
has the following characteristics.
- Screen: 6-inch E-Ink Carta with a resolution of 1024 x 758 pixels and a density of 212 PPI. There is a backlight and a touch screen.
- Processor: dual-core 1.2 GHz.
- Memory: 512 MB RAM and 8 GB internal memory, expandable up to 32 GB via microSD card.
The cost of a used device is somewhere between 50-70 euros.
In general, I was lucky right away. I took the photos right at the flea market, so they look dirty in the pictures. Later, of course, I cleaned everything up.
I also bought a motherboard, Asus X555LD, for 5 euros. It turned out to be in working condition: I inserted RAM, connected it to the monitor – everything works. By the way, I had a non-working laptop with almost the same motherboard, so now I’ll replace the board and the laptop will be back in operation.
Then I came across NIntendo Wii – they usually sell from 10 euros to 70 euros, depending on who is selling and in what condition.
Then I saw two eight-bit cartridges. My heart just sank as I remembered how much time I spent playing some games on Dendy.
There are many games for different consoles, from PS2 and PSP to PS4. There were also unopened Star Wars figurines, which I noticed already at home. You could buy them, since they are a collectible item.
If we talk about collections, I saw the table of some philatelist. It turned out that he had just a mountain of marks. Just take a look at this:
Here’s another collector, this one has cars that you can’t touch (but that’s what I wanted). Who knows if there is something valuable here?
There was also a starter for cars whose batteries were dead. This one will charge quite well – there is a capacious battery inside.
A counter with new and almost new electrical household tools. As far as I understand, this is all China.
Lots of restaurant coffee grinders. Some copies can be very expensive. I had a friend in Spain who was engaged in the restoration of such mills separately and the coffee machines themselves. His company flourished.
Lots of fishing rods, from 5 to 50 euros.
Who wants carpets?
And delicious sausages?
Different optics:
Rare typewriters are likely to have historical value. There is no other way to explain their high cost.
A whole scattering of car radios and a couple of batteries.
Knives. Lots of knives:
Gaming keyboard. Well preserved, may be in working order:
Adapter from Express card to RS-232:
Lots of different gadgets. You should be careful when purchasing them, as sometimes they are stolen. If you buy one without documents, you will be the last one in the police department.
Audio cable, possibly gold plated (who knows if this is a good cable or so-so?).
A set of audio equipment. Among other things, there is a t.bone SC450 USB microphone. This is a studio condenser microphone with a USB connection, which is suitable for recording vocals, podcasts, streaming and working with musical instruments. It features a 1-inch gold diaphragm and a fixed cardioid polar pattern to help you focus on the sound source and minimize background noise. Features also include a low-pass filter and -10 dB pad, which is useful for working with high volume levels.
This microphone has a wide frequency range (20 Hz – 18 kHz) and high sensitivity, which ensures high-quality recording even for professional use. The microphone also includes a shock mount and a protective carrying case.
Prices range from $73 to $95 depending on the seller. For example, on the Thomann website you can purchase it for $73. I already looked at the characteristics and price at home. I had to buy it, oh!
Inter-M MA-212
is a professional 120W mixing amplifier with support for playing MP3, WMA and WAV files. It features 6 inputs that can be switched between mic and line levels, and also has a 5-band equalizer for fine-tuning your sound. The built-in MP3 player is accessible via USB on the front panel. The device is suitable for working with sound coverage zones, allowing you to select up to 5 independent zones. Class D technology and switching power supply make it compact and energy efficient. The Inter-M MA-212U amplifier now costs about 200-300 euros, depending on the seller and the condition of the device.
The second amplifier is Koka SA-520. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find any information on it. Apparently, it was produced in small quantities or by another company, but under the Koka brand.
Yamaha PSR-18
– synthesizer, released in 1990. It has 61 full-size keys, but there is no touch sensitivity or aftertouch function.
Main Features
- Sounds: 100 built-in FM synthesis sounds and 22 rhythms.
- Polyphony: 9 voices.
- Built-in effects: reverb and echo.
- Speakers: built-in 2.1 W stereo speakers.
- Power: Support batteries (6 x D) or external power supply.
The synthesizer does not have MIDI and USB support, which limits its interaction with modern devices. However, the simple accompaniment features it offers make it useful for home practice. Prices on the secondary market range from $50 to $120, depending on condition and configuration.
Several calculators:
The second information could not be found. Clearly vintage, but how rare/interesting is it?
The iRobot Roomba robot vacuum cleaner is most likely the 600 series. I have several such robots, so I didn’t even ask. Looks very good.
I also saw a transceiver. The Icom IC-240 is a mobile VHF FM transceiver designed for amateur radio users and produced in the late 1970s. It operates in the 144-146 MHz band, making it ideal for communications on the 2 meter band.
Main Features
- Modulation: FM
- Transmitter frequency: 144-146 MHz
- Transmission power: 10W (high mode) and 1W (low mode)
- Sensitivity: not specified, but usually high enough for amateur radio transceivers of the era
- Channel switching range: 25 kHz steps with the ability to program up to 22 channels using diodes
- Dimensions: 156 x 58 x 218 mm
- Power: 13.8V DC, making it suitable for car use
- Reception system: double frequency conversion (with intermediate frequency 10.7 MHz and 455 kHz)
It costs about 60 euros on the secondary market, if, of course, it works and is equipped with everything necessary. And also a mountain of all kinds of photographic equipment. There was somehow a particularly large amount of it this time.
The Canon EOS 1000F is a 35mm film SLR camera released in the early 1990s. It was aimed at hobbyists and had features such as autofocus and auto exposure. The camera is equipped with a Canon EF mount, allowing you to use modern EF-compatible lenses.
Main Features
- Autofocus: TTL phase detection
- Shutter speed range: 1/1000 to 30 seconds
- Supported sensitivity: ISO 6-12800
- Power source: 2CR5 battery
- Built-in Flash: The “F” model has a built-in flash.
The cost of a camera on the secondary market varies greatly depending on condition and configuration. The cost with a lens is from 50 to 100 euros, depending on its model. The one in the photo is standard, intended for basic shooting and was often supplied with Canon EOS cameras.
Here are some more cameras in the box. One of them, in the upper right corner, is the Fujifilm FinePix S9600. This is a “bridge” digital camera with a 9-megapixel matrix and a lens with 10.7x optical zoom (28-300 mm equivalent). It has a rotating zoom and focus ring, making it similar to a DSLR camera. Features include manual exposure control, RAW format and a 2‑inch tilting screen. However, the camera is not equipped with optical stabilization, which makes it less suitable for shooting at long focal lengths.
Secondary market prices range from $50 to $120 depending on condition.
More photos, who sees anything valuable/useful here?
A whole scattering of flashes. There are a lot of copies of the Metz 45 CT-5 – a very common model in Spain, it can be seen at every flea market. It seems that there are more of them than photographers. The Metz 45 CT-5 is a vintage Mecablitz series flash that was popular among professional photographers for its power and creative lighting capabilities. The flash has a guide number of 45 (at ISO 100), making it powerful even at long distances. One of the features of the model is the presence of a second reflector, which serves as fill light when using the main reflector for reflection from the ceiling. This helps soften shadows and improve the overall light picture.
And there is the Starblitz 320BTZ, a flash designed for use with analog film cameras. It can be used with a variety of cameras such as 4×5 and other central shutter cameras. The flash supports synchronization through the central contact and cable, which makes it universal for different systems.
Finally, I came across a Grundig TK 149 tape recorder. It was released in the late 1960s and is a representative example of the technology of that time. This is a reel-to-reel monophonic tape recorder with a quarter-track recording system. Its main characteristics include:
- Recording system: 4-track, mono
- Tape speed: 9.5 cm/s (3¾ ips)
- Number of heads: 2 (record/playback and erase)
- Maximum coil diameter: 15cm
- Weight: about 8.5-9 kg
- Audio Power: 2.5W with built-in speaker
This tape recorder is equipped with an automatic recording level control function (Magic Ear), but also allows you to switch to manual control. For external connections, there are connectors for microphones, headphones and external speakers. There is a “trick” recording option, which allows you to overlay sounds while recording.
The cost of the tape recorder is 50-100 euros, depending on the condition.
Oh yes! And I saw this again. Here, undoubtedly, the seller sells his unnecessary gadgets.
What is this thing?
Piece 1.
Something like a compass, but clearly not a compass.
Piece 2.
Actually, I don’t understand what. Perhaps part of something? I don’t know the spinning machine there…
Piece 3.
Yoke, no yoke, what is it?
Piece 4.
Some kind of musical instrument, but very strange.
That's all for today. Hope you enjoyed it. Please write any comments or questions in the comments.
