Sensor with a resolution of 20 Mp and 12 Mp, 7x optical zoom, flight range 15 km. New DJI Mavic 3 Pro introduced

DJI unveils the new Mavic 3 Pro unmanned aerial vehicle in the series – the most anticipated device in the last couple of years. As you can imagine, the model is the successor to the DJI Mavic 2 Pro, which was introduced in 2018. It then became iconic for photographers and filmmakers for its combination of compact foldable design, excellent flight performance and a large 1-inch sensor.

The new drone was not equipped with such, but now it has two cameras on board at once. This was presented for the first time and truly deserves attention. In addition, flight safety systems have been updated, flight range up to 46 minutes, advanced ActiveTrack 5.0 and signal transmission range and flight up to 15 kilometers. More about everything in the material.

Flight capabilities

The DJI Mavic 3 flight is now 46 minutes thanks to its built-in 5000mAh battery. The maximum flight speed of the device is 75.6 km / h. And besides, wind resistance is increased by 30%. This is achieved due to the battery located in the tail in the compartment, secured by locking mechanisms, as well as the presence of additional air intakes in the upper, middle and lower parts of the case. It also provides less battery heating and versatile additional cooling.

The range of the unmanned aerial vehicle has also grown significantly. Thanks to the advanced OcuSync 3.0 technology, the signal transmission range of 15 kilometers is provided in HD resolution (1080p @ 30/60 fps).

Omni-directional obstacle recognition

The DJI Mavic 3’s advanced safe flight features include an advanced Advanced RTH system using wide-angle sensors to detect and avoid obstacles. The function is supplemented by the fact that when planning a route, the drone can independently detect and calculate possible obstacles, building the most optimal route to return to the take-off site.

The APAS 5.0 system is the latest and newest version of the autopilot system that automatically avoids obstacles by flying around them when shooting video at maximum resolution. Previously, the APAS 4.0 system was equipped with the DJI Air 2S.

Camera

As already mentioned, the DJI Mavic 3 is equipped with two cameras, which can be said to combine the capabilities of the two predecessors Mavic 2 Pro and Mavic 2 Zoom. The first 4/3 ”optical CMOS sensor will not only provide higher resolution and dynamic range, but also more effectively handle noise reduction in low light conditions. The camera’s capabilities include 20 megapixel photography, a 24mm wide-angle lens with an f / 2.8 aperture.

The second module is equipped with a 1/2 “optical format sensor with a resolution of 12 megapixels and a telephoto lens with a focal length of 160 mm. As such, there is no optical zoom, it is obtained due to the difference in focal lengths of the two lenses. DJI continues its ongoing partnership with Hasselblad, which in turn introduces more and more new and innovative products. The Mavic 3’s camera features autofocus and a robust 10-bit D-Log color profile for true-to-life color gradation without the need for further post-processing.

Even more possibilities

The DJI Mavic 3 is equipped with three-axis flight stabilization, but now it is supplemented with a function that automatically locks the stabilizer when the drone is turned off. The same thing about

Brother direction – when you turn on the device, flight stabilization is automatically turned on. This, in turn, saves battery power and ensures a smooth and safe flight at all times.

The technology for tracking objects has been updated. Now the new drone is equipped with ActiveTrack 5.0 with even more detailed and accurate sensor performance. In addition, for mesmerizing shooting and flight, there are modes for building a route or waypoints Waypoints 3.0, MasterShots, which we previously met with DJI Air 2S. Recall that we are talking about the drone’s ability to perform up to ten different maneuvers over the object and create short videos. In addition, there is a mode for creating 100-megapixel panoramas, which looks amazing in the frame, providing high definition, vivid colors and accurate reproduction.

It is worth adding that the new drone comes in three modifications: basic and advanced Fly More Combo and Cine Premium Combo. The latter is equipped with a 1 terabyte built-in SSD for recording. The premium kit includes extra batteries, carrying bag and shoulder strap, spare propellers, cables, triple battery charging dock, ND filter kits, and the latest DJI Smart Controller V2.0 with 5.5-inch built-in display. The basic DJI Mavic 3 kit includes the drone itself, a set of propellers, a charger and related cables.
