Programmers are said to earn a lot. How to become such a programmer?

This is a question that has no single correct answer. In short: it is worth putting the phone screen down and fig.

And in order to give more specific recommendations, it will be necessary to reformulate the question a little: “What does a developer need to do to increase the level of income?”.

The most obvious thing is to ask for more for your work. Of course, this must be conditioned and justified by something. For example, you can ask for more responsibilities, projects, or additional responsibility. In order to cope with such a challenge, you need to pump your skills, constantly show your leader the desire to grow and progress. And we are talking about both hard skills and soft skills. Many companies conduct regular assessments for IT professionals. And this is a great opportunity to show your achievements, interest in development and readiness for greater responsibility.

Or you can specialize in rare technology and take it at the expense of high demand and small supply. I know a programmer whom everyone recommends for certain projects, since he owns a technology that almost no one knows. But before that, he worked with this technology in a large company for about 10 years.

Alternatively, you can go to companies that “overheat” the market in terms of salaries. They are often higher there, because, for example, the working environment is not very good or the working conditions in general are not the most comfortable: bureaucracy, a strict regime, an uncomfortable schedule, or something else, which is just compensated by the level of salaries.

I also know programmers who combine several projects and deal with them during working hours. Accordingly, they increase their income level in this way. Of course, I do not recommend this, let it be on the conscience of such guys. But this solves the money problem.

And the most interesting thing, in my opinion, is that you can try to open your own business, start a startup or at least work on freelance. We live in an amazing time when an interesting job is well paid. Give it a try! Go for it! And do not forget that you need to love coding with all your heart, then the necessary doors will certainly open, and knowledge and skills will be appreciated, including financially.
