Our device from the beginning of the century. Assembly…

At work I encountered a small task – to assemble an old measuring device, which had been previously disassembled and repaired. As soon as I saw all this loose stuff, I almost felt “sick”: screws, nuts, boards with layers, metal fasteners. Convulsively grabbed a screwdriver and began to try to assemble this wonderful device.

At first, of course, I couldn't do anything useful, because I started by trying to connect the boards together, and only then started inserting them into the required connectors and the instrument case. I had to disassemble and reassemble several times… Although I almost never swear, I did get it wrong several times))

But after the decision was made to first install the individual boards into the case and only then combine them, it immediately became clear how everything should be installed.

Firstly, the screws for fastening the boards to the case strips are made in such a way that it is impossible to put the boards incorrectly, because one board is shorter, the other is longer, and only the longer one needs to be screwed to all four edges of the device. And the order is determined by the places of the drilled holes.

Secondly, the connectors themselves turned out to be designed in such a way that it is impossible to insert a board connector into them the wrong way (upside down) – the pins themselves all go longitudinally, and one at the beginning or end is transverse, so one board goes in looking “upside down”, and the other “upside down”.

The rest of the assembly turned out to be a matter of technique :)) In general, I was pleasantly surprised that the Russian device from the early 2000s was very well made, despite all its external unsightliness and “fallout vintage”, and even, as it turned out, with “foolproofing”, like me – you can't assemble it anyhow!

Thank you for your attention!
