New generation of home software from MyOffice – we tell you how we reinvented our editors

By popular demand, MyOffice has redesigned and significantly improved programs for private users. We have improved the functionality of the office suite, added new features for simple and effective work with documents, and most importantly, supplemented the product with a desktop presentation editor. Below we will tell you in detail what we were guided by and what we included in MyOffice for Home, as well as how the new functions will help parents, schoolchildren, students and the self-employed solve various tasks of preparing texts, tables and presentations.


We first introduced a line of office software for private users in April 2021. These were MyOffice Standard. Home Edition for PC and MyOffice Documents for mobile devices. A simple and user-friendly interface, the ability to solve most tasks when working with files and documents ensured a successful launch and popularity of the products – to date, they have been installed more than 30 million times. For further development and strengthening our position in the market, we have revised the concept and are introducing MyOffice for Home – a new home version of the package for working with documents.

The main changes in MyOffice for Home are a significant expansion of functionality and the transition to a subscription model. Transitioning free software to a commercial basis is a difficult but necessary decision. The demand for MyOffice office tools has grown significantly in recent years, and the workload on technical support and the development team has increased accordingly. Therefore, it was decided to introduce paid subscriptions to ensure sustainable funding and prompt development of the software. Previous versions of the product will remain free, and to start using the new features, it will be enough to update the package and subscribe.

The composition of the updated product “MyOffice for Home”

“MyOffice for Home” allows you to perform a wide range of tasks at home – from viewing and creating documents to working with pivot tables, graphs, mathematical formulas and presentations. The software can be used on any device – computers, laptops, smartphones and tablets.

For the convenience of users, adaptive toolbars have been implemented in the applications, which automatically change depending on the tasks and the Favorites panel for quick access to frequently used functions. Also, to protect data from loss, the product has a function for automatically saving backup copies of documents.

The MyOffice for Home user interface is available in five languages: Russian, English, French, Portuguese and Spanish. Currently, MyOffice for Home supports Windows, macOS and Android, but we plan to expand the number of platforms in the future.

So, what programs exactly are included in the product:

“MyOffice Text” — an editor for working with text documents of various formats (TXT, HTML, MHTML, RTF, ODT, DOC, DOCX, XODT and DOCM). Provides capabilities for formatting text, adding tables of contents, headers and footers, footnotes, lists, working with tables, diagrams and images. Supports LaTeX for mathematical expressions, document templates (XOTT), hot keys, Lua macros, spelling and grammar checking, export to PDF and other tools.

“MyOffice Table” — an application for creating and analyzing spreadsheets. Supports XLS, XLSX, XLSM, XLSB, TXT, ODS, XODS, CSV and other formats. Includes more than 200 formulas, diagrams, graphs, supports drop-down lists, cell style management, sorting and filtering of data. Export to PDF and other functions such as error highlighting and scroll lock are possible.

Comparison of documents

The document comparison function in MyOffice Text allows you to effectively identify differences between versions of the same text file. The tool displays added and deleted text fragments, as well as changes in tables. This helps avoid errors when signing or publishing documents.

Reviewing documents

Simplifies collaborative work on texts by allowing multiple users to make edits and comments simultaneously. The feature supports displaying the changes being made and accepting or rejecting them. Users can add comments, reply to them, and create discussion threads on specific text fragments. This feature is especially useful for collaborative work, where it is important to see the comments and edits of other participants, making the editing process more organized and transparent.

Protecting table contents from changes

“MyOffice Table” has an option to protect data from accidental or intentional changes. Users can protect both individual cells and entire sheets or the document structure. The function allows you to set passwords for protection and manage access to editing data. It is important that, if necessary, you can define a list of permitted operations and set restrictions on adding, deleting or renaming sheets. This ensures the security and integrity of data, which is especially important for documents with approved information.

Formula Calculation Management

MyOffice Spreadsheet has a formula calculation management mode that allows users to speed up work with documents containing many formulas. Instead of automatically recalculating formulas every time data changes, users can activate recalculation on demand. This feature is useful for users with less powerful computers or for complex spreadsheets where constant recalculation can slow down the application. The ability to force recalculation of specific cells, sheets, or the entire document allows for efficient resource and time management.

Connecting third-party dictionaries for spell checking

In MyOffice for Home, you can connect third-party dictionaries in DIC format. This allows you to work effectively with legal, medical, technical and other specific terminology, preventing spelling errors and ensuring uniform spelling of terms. Connecting additional dictionaries simplifies working with texts containing non-standard or rarely used words and expressions.

The MyOffice Documents mobile app includes a PDF editor that lets you edit text and formatting, add new elements, delete unnecessary ones, and change the page order. This tool simplifies working with PDF documents, which are often used for official and certified materials. Virtual laser pointer in presentations

The MyOffice Documents mobile app features a virtual laser pointer that helps you focus on specific parts of your presentation during a demonstration. The feature is activated by long-pressing the screen in slide show mode and allows you to transform your mouse cursor into a pointer. This is convenient for speaking in front of an audience and broadcasting to external displays where you need to highlight key points.

The desktop version of MyOffice Presentation includes a focus mode that allows you to highlight objects on a slide one by one. When the mode is activated, the object is highlighted and the rest of the slide is blurred. This allows you to focus the audience's attention on individual elements of the presentation without having to create complex animations. Focus mode helps manage the attention of viewers and improves the perception of information.

Broadcasting a document from a mobile device via Wi-Fi

The “Open Wi-Fi Access” function in the MyOffice Documents mobile application allows you to broadcast documents to a PC or other devices on the same Wi-Fi network. Users can view, edit, save and print documents in a browser without installing additional software. This solution is convenient for working with documents on large screens when there is no suitable editor at hand.
