My appeal to the RF AP regarding YouTube slowdown, and the response from Roskomnadzor

In connection with your request, we inform you of the following.

Google LLC has not officially operated in Russia for two years now, having chosen to file for bankruptcy of its Russian branch and to stop supporting the infrastructure of its caching servers in our communication networks. This approach leads to a decrease in the quality of the video service.

At the same time, the number of Russian channels blocked is only growing. Having started with domestic media, journalists and public figures, this year the American company began blocking videos of Russian musicians. And not individual works, but entire channels popular with Russian users. In total, more than 200 of our channels have been blocked. This year alone – more than 80 accounts.

On July 10, 2024, Roskomnadzor sent another demand to unblock the director of the head office of Google LLC.

No response received.

Due to systematic violations of the law, the total amount of fines imposed by the court on Google LLC over the past three years has amounted to more than 25 billion rubles. This measure also had no effect.

Numerous violations of Russian legislation, disrespect for our country and citizens are grounds for taking measures against YouTube. We have enough tools to motivate the company in such a situation, the right to use them remains with the Russian side.
