Microsoft removed WordPad despite user resistance and is actively improving Notepad. Don't need Word?

What about WordPad?

It was removed from the test build of Windows 11 on February 5, 2024. It will likely disappear from the stable build as well, as the corporation has repeatedly announced that the component will be phased out soon.

“Starting with this build, WordPad and People will no longer be installed during a clean OS installation. In a future version, WordPad will be removed when updated. WordPad cannot be reinstalled. WordPad is an obsolete Windows feature.” stated company representatives.

Supporters of this component in Windows believe that Notepad cannot be an alternative to WordPad and other editors. Simply because it is not suitable for formatting large documents. With it you can only type text – without formatting, tables or images.

“I use WordPad for RTF files because it loads faster than MS Word. I take reference notes in RTF format because Notepad doesn't support text formatting. Please add WordPad to the Microsoft Store, just like you did with MS Paint when it was deprecated on Windows,” reads one user's comment on Microsoft's Feedback Center.

In general, it turns out, as in the saying: “Somewhere it has gone, somewhere it has arrived.” It’s bad, of course, that WordPad is being removed. But the fact that Notepad is improving is great.
