Make your badge: Shitty Add-On doesn’t mind OFFZONE
In preparing the conference, we pay close attention to the concept of a badge. Last year, we made it into an interactive printed circuit board in the form of a 3.5-inch floppy disk. It was possible to tune the board: participants soldered a display, an infrared receiver and other interesting things to it right at the event. We wrote more about this in a post.

This year, we have remained faithful to the DIY spirit. Moreover, we decided to give the conference participants the opportunity to fully customize their badge. The scale of the upgrade is limited only by imagination and a very specific specification of the Shitty Add-On V1 connector (you can find out more about the SAO standard, its performance characteristics and other things here) The standard is simple and clear: even participants who are not very sophisticated in soldering and electronics will be able to prepare add-ons based on it in advance.
In order for your addon to match the connector on the board and look beautiful on it, it must satisfy a number of requirements:
- size no more than 5 × 5 cm;
- directed away from the badge board;
- does not call on the block with the logo;
- pinout as in the picture below (the first pin on the board is indicated by a square).

This year I2C support was not delivered (the standard affects us badly), but it’s still possible to light up the LEDs: there will be power on the add-on! Otherwise, it is better to use the recommendations from the SAO specification.
If you do not have time to prepare the add-on for April, do not worry! We almost guarantee that it will go with the OFFZONE 2021 badge.
By the way, any Shitty Add-On will do, including from other conferences.
Shitty Add-On’s in all its glory
Of course, the OFFZONE 2020 badge will not only be able to custom design.
Firstly, as at previous events, it will serve as a wallet for OFFCOIN – the conference’s internal currency.
Secondly, the badge will have its own tasks, the solution of which will bring a little OFFCOIN and fame.
Thirdly, the badge is endowed with the functionality of █████████ ██ ████████ ██████. █████, ████████ for ████ ██, ███ as various ████████ █████ badges.
We don’t disclose all the secrets – the story about them will appear a little later in our social networks. Finally, we will share a small insider about the appearance of the badge:
Recall that the third international conference on practical cybersecurity OFFZONE 2020 will be held April 16-17 at the venue Loft Hall # 2. Its participants will be practicing experts, developers, engineers, researchers, teachers and students from several dozen countries. Details – on the event website.
