What do you associate valerian with? With a drug for cats or with the smell from grandma's medicine cabinet? But one thing we know for sure, valerian is taken to calm down, another question is, how effective is it?

Valerian is still actively studied by scientists all over the world and, by the way, it is popular not only in Russia, but also in the former CIS countries and America. 370 scientific articles have been written about it, 16 randomized controlled studies have been conducted (and that's 1000+ people).

What did you learn?

✅Most often it is used to improve sleep. 80% of patients who took valerian, improved sleep compared to those who drank a placebo.

✅Valerian is a better option than other sleeping pills due to the lack of a hangover effect.

✅Enough effective both separately and in combination in the treatment of sleep problems and anxiety.

Safety and Dosage

Safe in the short term (up to 1 month).

May cause headache and abdominal pain in some cases.

The standard dose is approximately 150-600 mg 30-60 minutes before bed or brew 2-3 grams of dried root in a glass of water.

It may take up to 2 weeks of daily use to achieve a stable sedative effect (cumulative effect).

Combines well with motherwort, lemon balm, passionflower and enhances the effect of other supplements with a similar focus.

I have never taken pure valerian myself, but for the older generation, in stressful situations, it is a must-have.
