Infrastructure coup: ARM vs. Intel

99.9% of all servers on the market are Intel-based. Therefore, speaking about server hardware, we unwittingly mean Intel-based technology, as in the past, “copier” meant a copier from the only manufacturer of these devices.

Over the years, the monopoly on the printing device market has been broken – strong players have emerged, pushing Xerox out. What about the server hardware market? Until recently, many believed that Intel would stay at the helm for another 10 years, and there were no prerequisites for change.

However, a change has begun: ARM processors, always used for smartphones and consumer technology, have invaded Intel territory, and quite successfully. Cloud providers began to invest money to create their solutions on this platform and on their basis offer services and computing resources for rent. And Apple, which has been making laptops and PCs exclusively on Intel for many years, suddenly released a new generation of ARM-based devices with amazing performance.

Jet Infosystems with partners and customers is also looking at the breakthrough technology, testing and making the first trial implementations. Are there pitfalls in this topic, and is the game worth the candle? We decided to make a round table about this, and we are gathering the entire professional community for it.

Round table topics:

  • Why are ARM processors suddenly so fast?

  • What software do new processors need, and where can I get it?

  • Why do companies need to purchase such hardware?

  • How did the first ARM tests go? How do processors perform well in productive operation?

Who will be interested?

  • heads of the IT infrastructure department;

  • CIO of companies from various industries;

  • senior IT technical staff.

Moderator: Ilya Voronin, Head of the Jet Infosystems Design Center

Speakers:

  • Pavel Romanchenko, Technical Director of the Jet Infosystems Innovation Center;

  • Alexander Golub, Technical Director of T-Platforms;
