in Russian IT the number of self-employed is growing

Over the past 4 years, the share of self-employed in IT increased 20 times. The growth began during the pandemic, and the start of the SVO spurred it on. Companies are not overjoyed: they have to pay many times less taxes for the self-employed; the Labor Code does not actually protect such employees. Profits out of the blue grow by 20-30%. Those workers who still work under Labor Code should think about it.

They are diligently trying to convince you and me that it is more profitable to work as an individual entrepreneur or a private entrepreneur. They talk about freedom of movement around the world, working from anywhere, reducing the tax burden, which is doubly important in connection with the new personal income tax law. But for some reason, for some reason, it is mainly those who have little choice – juniors and relocants – who accept unfavorable conditions for individual entrepreneurs or self-employment. If there is a choice, people choose to work under the Labor Code – so much so that employers are forced hide from vacancies “advantages” of working as an individual entrepreneur.

If you throw a frog into boiling water, it will jump out; but if you put it in cold water and start to slowly heat it up… We are told about the increase in the interest of workers in relations with the employer not according to the Labor Code. They are increasing personal income tax, which is hitting a huge number of IT workers. They talk about freedom without TC. And all this reminds us of Ukrainian IT specialists. In 2022, Ukraine adopted Diya City Law, who introduced the concept of gig contracts and actually put IT specialists on a par with couriers and taxi drivers. Naturally, specialists, already working as individual entrepreneurs (FOP) on fixed-term contracts, did not want to restrict their rights even more. Therefore, to increase the attractiveness of the brave new world of “dia,” the authorities came up with something very familiar: tax cuts for gig contractors and a deferment from mobilization not supported by law…

The Diya City Law was at one time supported by large companies: EPAM, Ajax Systems, TA Ventures, Genesis, Reface, Banza, Kyivstar, Datagroup. Now the Association of Computer and Information Technology Enterprises (APKIT, includes VK, 1C, Softline and others) is happy about the growth in the number of self-employed in IT in Russia. According to the Kommersant newspaper, the founder of the company Kasimov.Team (developing software for artificial intelligence) Denis Kasimov directly states: if regulators do not interfere with the conditions for hiring self-employed IT specialists, their number will continue to grow, since it is more profitable for companies – some employ part-time self-employed people.

Influence the merger of corporationslike APKIT, only a union of workers can. First in the workplace, then in the industry. Only you and I can stop the attack on our labor rights. Talk to your colleagues over lunch, ask them what they think, Are you ready to give up vacations and sick leave for illusory benefits? Unity begins with conversations and the search for common problems.

Unite. Don't know how? Comelet's study together.
