How to set up a program for managing a Veyon computer class

Veyon is designed specifically for monitoring and managing computers. She
used in educational institutions, for virtual training or
remote support. Allows the teacher to broadcast to students
image from your screen, block their computers, install
access rights to programs and sites and perform other actions,
necessary for effective conduct of classes.

Veyon is included in the Viola Education OS distribution kit in the Basic Educational Kit group. If the program was not installed during system installation, it can be installed from the repository using the Discover program center, the Synaptic package manager, or through the terminal. Technical requirements for equipment can be found on the Veyon website.

Server Tuning

To configure via the graphical interface, launch the Veyon configurator, enter a username with administrator rights and password.

You must copy the public key to all computers to which Veyon will connect. To make setup easier, you can also transfer the configuration file in JSON format.

Select the public key, click “Export Key”. Specify the directory for export, click “Save”.

Now you can transfer files to all computers on the network to user home folders using an external drive, through a shared directory or the ssh network protocol.

After that, in the “Seats and Computers” section, you need to add classes and computers.  To create a new place, at the bottom of the page you need to click “+” under the “Places” block and enter the name of the class or study group.

To add a computer, click “+” under the “Computers” block and mark all the necessary machines. For each you need to set a name and enter an IP address.

Getting started with Veyon

On the server, launch Veyon Monitor.  In the “Monitoring” section, check whether client workstations appear in the list.
