How to make a takeout in Telegram?

The news about either the detention or arrest of Pavel Durov in France gives us a reason to discuss various topics. As you might guess, in this case I am not interested in the issue of politics or the legal component, but the PRESERVATION OF DIGITAL ARCHIVES.

For me, this is a great example of their mortality, and for others, it is a reminder that you need to make backups from time to time. And, yes, Telegram also has takeout

Before I give you the link to the download instructions, I want to remind you of two things.

1) After downloading these files, you yourself become responsible for their safety, and if there are important passwords, photos of passports or some indecent organs in the chats, then you should think about whether you need to download all this stuff to your disk. After all, you will then upload it to some cloud, accidentally share the link and God knows how it will end.

2) If you are a simple user who does not understand how all these technologies work, then there is a chance that the correspondence in Telegram is the only place where photos from your wedding, videos of your children's first steps, correspondence with deceased relatives and friends and other sentimental things that you want to refer to from time to time are saved.

Therefore, you yourself will have to decide which threat is more important to you: a leak of incriminating evidence or the loss of a family archive.

BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING, MAKE SURE YOU ARE CLICKING ON THE LINKS YOU SEE ON THE SCREEN AND WHICH LEAD TO THE OFFICIAL TELEGRAM WEBSITE!

Because hypertext is a magical thing that allows you to show one address in the text and send you to another.

Ready? Let's continue…

If the second, then here is an instruction on how to download the data – https://telegram.org/blog/export-and-more

This must be done from the DESKTOP CLIENT – https://desktop.telegram.org/

If you have never connected other devices, then on your smartphone you will need to go to Settings -> Devices press the button Link Desktop Device and scan the QR code from the computer screen on which you install the desktop client.

After that, in the desktop client menu, go to Settings -> Advanced and there at the very bottom Export Telegram Data.

Then everything depends on how much you have written there and whether you want to save photos, videos, voice messages and sent files. You will have to decide this yourself, depending on the situation. 🙂

It is possible that after starting the download, you will have to press the button on your smartphone that allows downloading data in the desktop client.

Then you will have to find where he downloads all of this and think about how to store it all.

Unfortunately, this is what family photo albums and letters look like now.
