However, what are the prizes, in comparison with the true happiness of gaining new knowledge and competencies. Moreover, with a confirming certificate. Today we will talk about how to convert knowledge into a certificate using the example of HCSA – Digital Power (Engineering infrastructure of data centers and communication systems).

Huawei’s Digital Power department has several lines of business. The main among them is the engineering infrastructure of the data center. In addition, the department also focuses on power systems for communications networks, solar energy, electric and hybrid vehicles. Fortunately, to obtain HCSA – Digital Power, it is enough to focus on the engineering infrastructure of the data center and the power supply of communication networks.

As part of preparing for certification, we will provide examples of questions that will be encountered in the exam, and we will analyze specific points to which you should pay attention. The course itself will allow you to study information that is not available in product catalogs, including many insiders.

In the Huawei certification program, the HCSA exam is basic, so rather general, strategic questions are preferred. There you will not be asked how many power modules fit in a particular UPS, what is its efficiency, etc. Those who have already had the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the materials of the HCSA training course, probably paid attention to this.

The exam itself will consist of 60 questions of three types:

  • When the answer is yes or no.

  • When it is necessary to choose one answer from several.

  • When it is necessary to choose several correct answers. This type is perhaps the most difficult.

The exam itself is conducted online. After registration, you set a date when you are ready to test your knowledge, and on that day the online examination form becomes available for exactly one day. You can sign up for the exam here (Huawei registered account required).

After starting the online exam procedure, the allowed number of transitions from the browser to the training materials will be limited. If you are distracted more than 10 times to look at the PDF of presentations, the exam will automatically end with an unsatisfactory result. It is unlikely that this limitation will stop the flight of creative thought and the inquisitive mind of a real engineer, but it is necessary to know about its presence.

So, back to our today’s hero, the HCSA certificate – Digital Power. HCSA – Digital Power. The curriculum for this course includes two presentations, the first of which relates to powering communications systems.

Organization of power supply for communication systems

On the slide, you can see a rather long heading that will act as a question on the exam. The answer will be to determine whether the statement is true.

At the bottom of the slide, the power requirements are listed. To answer a question related to them, you will need to choose three correct options – according to the number of blocks in the diagram.

Here, too, the heading can be used as a simple yes / no question. In addition, on this slide, it is already necessary to pay attention to the numerical parameters, since some of the questions may be related to checking the knowledge of these values.

This slide illustrates Huawei’s iSitePower strategy. At the bottom left, there are three types of communication networks for which one or another solution can be used. For each type, there are examples of industries in which they can be applied. Questions on this diagram can occur in 3-4 variations within the same exam, so you should study it in detail.

We have already explained the meaning of studying headings above. On this overview slide, you can see what the iSitePower direction actually consists of – 5G Power, iPoleSide and so on. In the exam, you may come across a question in which it will be necessary to correctly select all five correct answers from the proposed options.

Shown here are the different use cases for 5G Power solutions. They can also occur in multiple-choice questions. In addition, on the left side of the slide, the SEE coefficient is indicated, which determines the efficiency of the energy system of various solutions. Here, too, control is possible in the form of checking the knowledge of these specific figures.

We call the iSuperSite solution a “convergent rack”, which includes air conditioners, heating systems, etc. This slide, for example, may include questions:

  • What energy sources can iSuperSite use (on the left slide)?

  • What devices does iSuperSite support (center slide)?

  • What are the characteristics of iSuperSite (on the right side of the slide)?

  • In what areas is iSuperSite used (list at the bottom of the slide)?

iPoleSite is a special rack with a solar battery mounted on it, a video surveillance system, etc. There may be questions about the scenarios for using such a solution or the characteristics of the system.

The characteristics, as you can see, are highlighted in red. In this way, the authors of the training course highlighted the most important points that will definitely come in handy when passing the exam.

This is a built-in 19 “MagicPower system. It is versatile in terms of power supply methods and has a wide output voltage range. The exam may come across questions related to the knowledge of these possibilities.

At the bottom of the slide are the modules that can be built into MagicPower. This list can also form the basis for a multiple choice question.

This slide shows various scenarios for organizing the power supply of communication networks. As in previous cases, all important points are highlighted in red: characteristics, features, some numerical parameters. All this can be in questions.

Here on the left side of the slide is a case study of Huawei’s power system deployment in Saudi Arabia. This case is included in the list of exam questions and implies a “yes / no” answer.

The block devoted to monitoring is much more interesting. The answer to the question is to list the characteristics of the monitoring systems (lower right corner of the slide).

It’s time for a self-test. There was already a similar slide above, so you can try to break it yourself into blocks that will form the basis of this or that question.

The slide is dedicated to the implementation of Huawei solutions in hard-to-reach places without a stable electrical network. Here it is important to pay attention to the title and numerical parameters, which can become the basis – or rather, they will definitely become! – relevant questions.

Application of Huawei equipment in the oil and gas sector. We memorize scenarios, composition of solutions, numerical parameters. Do not neglect the data on the cost of electricity – they can also be met in questions.

Here you can find information about solution providers related to Huawei products and how they interact with them. The question here can be based on the power system deployment chain, from connecting power to communications networks to implementing a complete power ecosystem.

So, we got to the last slide of the first presentation, which is part of the training materials for preparing for HCSA certification. Here you will find data on the revenue of the energy division of Huawei, a list of awards received, an analysis of market share, etc. To some, this may seem redundant knowledge, but it will also be verified during the exam. So, for example, there is a question about in which year Huawei’s revenue exceeded $ 1 billion. The correct answer is in 2018.

As you may have noticed, all the information in the first part of the training course is purely overview, so mastering it should not be a problem. The answers to many questions are intuitive. With regard to multiple answers, in most cases, the correct solution is to select all items from the list.

Data Center Engineering Infrastructure Solutions

The second presentation, included in the HCSA Certification Exam – Digital Power, is about solutions for data center engineering infrastructure and includes 47 slides. Let’s not bore the Khabrovites with its detailed analysis. Let’s focus only on the main things that will help increase the likelihood of successful delivery.

In general, assimilating the material of the second presentation, you can be guided by the same principles that we have already discussed above.

This is a very important slide, which reflects the whole structure of the Digital Power business at Huawei. The issue associated with this scheme will require listing five main areas, including solutions already familiar to us for communication systems, powering data centers, solar energy, electric and hybrid vehicles, as well as specialized semiconductor equipment and hardware modules.

A large block of information in this presentation is devoted to current trends and challenges associated with the rapid development of technology. Note that slide titles play the same role here as they did in the first presentation.

On this slide, we also note the presence of important numerical parameters that must be remembered. In this case, it can be, for example, the question of how the electrical power consumed by the rack with IT equipment has changed over the years.

In this block, you may also encounter questions related to data visualized in the form of pie charts with one most important parameter highlighted in red. This is also worth paying attention to. Do not forget to check the meanings of the abbreviations used in the material. Terms such as PUE (Power Usage Effectiveness) and WUE (Water Usage Effectiveness) can be answers to specific questions.

Trick questions are also possible. So, for example, this slide shows that Huawei has the highest power density on the market – 100 kVA in a 3U power module. The question may contain a statement that the top solution for the industry is a 100 kVA module in 4U format. This is no longer true and must be answered accordingly.

The final group of slides of the second presentation is dedicated to Huawei’s success in the data center power supply market and, in particular, to the shares that Huawei products occupy in the niches of various types of equipment production. Once again, we draw your attention to the fact that the questions may relate to specific implementation cases, which are given in this part of the presentation.

It remains to add that there is no urgent need to use any additional materials to prepare for the exam. You can familiarize yourself with our catalog of equipment for data centers in Russian, but remember that the purpose of the exam is to test only general knowledge about the direction of Digital Power in Huawei.

Don’t worry if the exam seems too easy for you. For the next level certification, you will need to complete a training course of 1200+ slides. And there you have to work hard.

In the meantime, download the educational material, get ready and come to take HCSA – Digital Power. We remind you that you can try to pass the exam completely free of charge. Good luck!
