How to flash oculus quest 2 in 2024 without VPN and without unnecessary problems?
So, somewhere in mid-July I became the happy owner of quest 2. I chose it because, despite the sanctions, this helmet was the best in terms of price/quality ratio. But here's the problem: it was impossible to update the helmet to the latest version using the official method.
After reading 20 articles on this topic, I realized that none of the presented methods help me, because they are either too complex or obviously unworkable. Therefore, I decided to write an application that will update the helmet to the latest version instead of you.
How can I update my helmet through my app?
This is done, in my opinion, very simply
1) Download the program: https://github.com/IvanProkshin/QuestUpdater
2) Launch and see this window:
3) Next, there are several options: either manually download the firmware from the website https://cocaine.trade (Thanks to Basti564 for this site) and after that put the firmware in the folder with the program (The file with the firmware must be renamed to firmware.zip !), or click “yes” and the program will automatically download the latest version from the same site.
4) Load the helmet in sideload update mode:
At the beginning of the process, turn off the glasses and hold down the power and volume down buttons at the same time until the Meta logo appears. Use the Volume buttons to select Sideload Update. (https://holographica.space/news/quest-software-update-tool/)
5) Connect the helmet to the PC via a USB cable and click “Check adb connection”. If the “Launch firmware” button is activated, move on
6) Click “Launch firmware” and look: the program should load the firmware into the helmet.
