How to analyze potentially emergency situations using housing and communal services systems

By monitoring water, electricity, and gas meters (if available), you can create a warning system for accidents with a high probability. Moreover, we are talking both about human lives and about everyday emergencies.

The algorithm is very simple: you need to notice cases when resource consumption exceeds the statistical average.
Example: In Grandma Marfa’s house, water has been flowing from the neighboring apartment for two hours straight. It’s unlikely that she showers or does the dishes that much. Most likely, there was a water break in her house (although it could break up to the meter, then we won’t see the leak) or she felt sick and didn’t turn off the tap. Similar cases apply to gas and light. It is unlikely that you will cook on the stove for several hours or leave the lights, TV, and other electrical appliances on for more than 12 hours, for example.

Let's summarize

  1. Such a system requires a way to monitor meters;

  2. The system is more likely to signal that a bad situation has happened to the resident(s) of the house, but it will not show a water or gas leak in 100% of cases;

  3. This method of analyzing emergency situations in homes is quite effective and universal. Video cameras and panic buttons combined with it will give even better results.
