How I grew a YouTube channel to 33k subscribers in 6 months

In this article, I will share how I was able to increase the number of subscribers on my channel from 3,000 to 33,000 in less than 7 months and share the strategies that led to this result.

Initially, the channel was “dead”, so the available 3 thousand did not help much.

By the way, as of September 27, 2024, there are already 44.4 thousand on the channel, although no new videos have been released there – due to my leaving the company. This is what’s good about YouTube – it will then promote you itself.

Analytics on the channel

Analytics on the channel

1. Analysis of target audience

I started by trying to understand the audience as best as possible. Used YouTube analytics and VidIQ to study what interests viewers. It turned out that they were interested not only in a specific topic, but also in the presentation format. This made it possible to tailor the content to expectations.

2. Content strategy

When it became clear what the audience was interested in, I developed a content plan. It was important to regularly publish new videos, but not just for show, but offering a variety of formats. This gave a steady influx of new subscribers.

3. SEO optimization

Text optimization played a key role in promotion. I tried to pay attention to keywords in titles, descriptions and tags.

4. Promotion through social networks

Next, I actively used social networks to expand the reach of the video. Reposting videos in the VK community was especially good at bringing additional traffic to the video, which in turn pleased YouTube and further promoted the video.

5. Interaction with the audience

Involvement decides a lot here. I constantly responded to comments, conducted surveys, launched competitions – all this helped create a feeling of live communication. Replies to haters went especially well, which had a positive effect on promotion.

6. Constant analysis and adaptation

Constantly monitored results and adjusted the strategy. Data analysis helped identify what was working and what needed to be improved. If one video worked particularly well, I tried to figure out why it happened and apply successful elements in the next releases.

7. Creating covers

Covers have become another tool for growth. I paid a lot of attention to making sure they were bright, attractive, and conveyed the essence of the video. This not only improved click-through rates, but also helped to stand out from the crowd of other competing videos.

8. Ideas

We looked at Western brands that create similar products. As a rule, you could take interesting ideas for videos from them, adapt them and do something similar. Sometimes such ideas went very well.

One of the most successful videos was a video showing a small part of the trousers. Attaching the trouser leg to the boot. Seemingly made on the fly, the video attracted about 13 thousand new subscribers (as of the end of 2023) and collected more than 11 million views.

Conclusions

The main lesson I learned is that success on YouTube requires a holistic approach. You need to actively publish videos, learn from your own mistakes and then everything will work out)

There was also a case of how we sold 1.8 million on this channel with an average check of 20k. But that's another story…
