How can artificial intelligence improve cyber physical systems?

What are cyberphysical systems, why are they so relevant today, and what role does artificial intelligence play in their development?

The study of the various properties of information technology systems in terms of the interaction of their physical and digital components is a new and relevant area of ​​modern science of cyberphysical systems [1].

The main components of any cyberphysical system are (Fig. 1):

  • the physical layer of the system (various objects of the real physical world of the most diverse nature);
  • the digital layer of the system (a lot of data about the system stored in computers, algorithms for managing physical objects, information processing algorithms, etc.);
  • interface for the interaction of the digital and physical layers (various sensors, control mechanisms, etc.);
  • interface for the interaction of the digital and physical layers with humans (various XR technologies).
