Habr, Mimino and Yeralash – what do they have in common, or regular conversations about

Inspired by another karma thread

All coincidences are coincidences.

The author's opinion may not coincide with anything else.

You may ask, what does “Mimino” have to do with it?
And it has nothing to do with it – Frunzik It’s just that %user_name% feels such personal hostility towards you that he simply cannot eat until he throws a black ball into karma.

You may ask, what does “Yeralash” have to do with it?
And nothing to do with it, I just remembered episode #103 “Listen to my command!/Doctor – my dog is peeing.”

You ask – grandfather, what are you talking about here? Forgot to take your pills again?
No, we just need to talk once again about systems of motivation, demotivation, regulation and other choices from “both are worse”.

Karma is a means of self-regulation/education, right? Those. for bad/wrong deeds/actions there should be retribution in the form of a reduction in status, so that the erring member of the community understands where he was wrong, for which he was given a mustard plaster? Right?

But now it works, um, not at all the way it should.
The direct connection between the user’s action (comment, article) and the community’s reaction to it is not visible to the user. And this reminds me very much of the process of raising a dog by an inadequate owner (I was walking by and just kicked him, and on the way back he gave me half a kilo of steak. Why did he kick him, what was the steak for? Idk, guess for yourself).

So, this is where I’m leading my speech – in your opinion, wouldn’t it be more logical to tie the vote in the user’s karma to his action/deed (comment, article, post and then attach a comment there about why the vote is that way)? A similar system has been adopted by w3bsit3-dns.com – it is really better and more transparent.
