Probably, this will be one of the shortest of our publications, but in principle a lot of talk and no need. Deleted forever! Well, or at least for a while. And after all this is over – not everyone will return to the offices, someone will still work from home. Partially or not – another question, but there will be more udalenki.
Therefore, we have put together instructions for you here on how to configure the remote on Zyxel gateways and on the client. Several ways, about everything below. For all questions – to us in telegrams or to the forum, addresses at the end.
Scenarios for transferring an employee to remote work:
1. Creating L2TP over IP Sec VPN Connection
The company’s office has a Zyxel gateway. VPN connection is established by regular means of any operating system.
pros: more free VPN connections available
Minuses: client-side configuration required
2. Creating an SSL VPN connection
The company’s office has a Zyxel gateway.
a) A free Zyxel SecuExtender client is installed on a Windows client computer. It works without time limits. The number of connections is limited by the default number of SSL VPN tunnels, which can be increased using licenses (see table).
b) A paid Zyxel SecuExtender client with a trial period of 30 days is installed on a MacOS client computer. The number of connections is limited by the default number of SSL VPN tunnels, which can be increased using licenses (see table).
pros: no client-side configuration required
Minuses: Paid client for MacOS. By default, fewer VPN tunnels are available.
The number of possible VPN tunnels for each of the devices is shown in the table. Please note that for each device a certain number of free connections are available that do not require the purchase of additional licenses.
But now there is a version of the new firmware for the ATP series gateways, where the tunnels have been made even larger. Read more and download here here.
