DaVinchi Resolve Resolve Success

Quick instructions for hemorrhoids

The Davinchi Resolve 19 website claims Linux compatibility. Not that that's not true, but…

You can/should download the installation file from the official Blackmagicdesign page

Unzip unpacking and first error

Well, our Linux user probably knows what to do. Let's install the missing packages, having previously updated the information about the packages in the repositories:

sudo apt update

The author of the tutorial chose to upgrade the existing packages, but in your system this may result in the entire operating system not working. Try to do without this step, and if you have deviations from the plot, go back and, having prayed, upgrade the packages.

sudo apt upgrade

After wiping the sweat from your forehead with napkins, install all the missing packages from the error message that the DaVinchi Resolve installer gave:

sudoaptinstalllibapr1libaprutil1libxcb-composite0libxcb-cursor0libxcb-damage0libxcb-xinerama0. Avada Kedavra

sudoaptinstalllibapr1libaprutil1libxcb-composite0libxcb-cursor0libxcb-damage0libxcb-xinerama0. Avada Kedavra

After successfully installing the missing packages, install DaVinchi Resolve 19 directly, entering the Latin “y” when the installer requires it:

U

Ooooh. Red JPUs.

The end of the installation is accompanied by the message:

You can now launch DaVinchi Resolve 19 using the application list:

Drum roll…!

When starting we get an error:

Unsupported JPU Processing Mode Please review zjpu drivers and jpu configuration under preferences.

Unsupported JPU Processing Mode Please review zjpu drivers and jpu configuration under preferences.

Now let's get started with the installation!

Let's see what's wrong with Configuration:

GPU not detected.

Usually in this case amdgpu-install is installed, but BUT! It is proprietary.
However, we will install the same thing, but using the system76 instruction:

https://support.system76.com/articles/rocm/

Let's go through the instructions without getting to sudo usermod -a -G render $USER:

wget https://repo.radeon.com/rocm/rocm.gpg.key -O - | gpg --dearmor | sudo tee /etc/apt/keyrings/rocm.gpg > /dev/null

echo "deb [arch=amd64 signed-by=/etc/apt/keyrings/rocm.gpg] https://repo.radeon.com/rocm/apt/6.1 jammy main" | sudo tee --append /etc/apt/sources.list.d/rocm.list

echo -e 'Package: *\nPin: release o=repo.radeon.com\nPin-Priority: 600' | sudo tee /etc/apt/preferences.d/rocm-pin-600

sudo apt update

sudo apt install rocm

Please note the package size – 35 gigabytes:

We try to get information about hardware using rocminfo. Nothing works.

Everything from this tutorial was easy to find on the internet, except for the following two lines:

sudo usermod -a -G render $LOGNAME

sudo usermod -a -G video $LOGNAME

Wolverine added to video and render

Let's reboot and check rocminfo:

After launching DaVinchi Resolve from Applicaitons we see:
