Apple found a way to cash in on the switch to USB-C, and some have already installed the same port in their iPhone, and it has also become known how the new HomePod 2 is assembled, how to shoot with the “telephoto” effect on cameras without a telephoto camera, and also what Apple updated last week. The digest is ready for you, let’s move on to the news!

Updated the Apple website and some of its sections

On the site Apple.com the top menu has been updated – now when you hover over a section, the entire list of products drops out.

The mobile version has also changed the location of the menu icons – they are now all on the right, and the company logo has moved from the center to the left corner.

In the Russian version of the site, everything is the same as before, at the same time can be compared 😅

Apple also updated the design of the pages warranty service checks by serial number in modern company style.

At first glance, nothing has changed, but the lines and forms for data entry have changed, and fonts, icons and interface elements are made in the modern style of the company

The site has been updated even in the Russian version of the site, as well as all over the world in all languages. The multi-colored icons indicating the validity of the guarantee have disappeared, which is a bit of a minus in clarity.

Updates: iOS 16.3.1, tvOS 16.3.2 and MagSafe Duo Software

Apple releases the following systems:

• iOS 16.3.1 (20D67)

• iPadOS 16.3.1 (20D67)

• tvOS 16.3.2 (20K672)

• HomePod 16.3.2 (20K672)

• watchOS 9.3.1 (20S664)

• macOS Ventura 13.2.1 (22D68)

The long-awaited fixes have arrived
The long-awaited fixes have arrived

The following bugs have been fixed in iOS and iPadOS 16.3.1:

• iCloud settings might be unresponsive or not display correctly if apps use iCloud;

• Latitude Siri requests might not work.

• Optimization of the Crash Detection function (detection of auto accidents) on iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro models.

macOS Ventura 13.2.1 includes numerous security fixes and improvements, fixes numerous vulnerabilities, and improves data protection settings.

Similarly – bug fixes and security improvements, inside the new watchOS 9.3.1, for WATCH.

Also in the HomePod and tvOS 16.3.2 update, Apple is fixing a pesky HomePod bug that caused HomeKit requests to end up unanswered and fail when requested.

And the tvOS update seems to fix a bug that has been reported on Twitter for a very interesting bug – a number of users were unable to accept the new iCloud Terms and Conditions with only tv. Then Apple released a new technical support document, which clarified that this can be done on the iCloud website.

Now, the error of accepting the new iCloud Terms of Use on tv has most likely been fixed in the latest version of the software.

And last week there was an update for MagSafe Duo. Firmware version 10M3063 (256.1067.0) may be the last for the charging station, as the product is likely to be removed from sale soon due to limited compatibility with a number of devices (for example, iPhone 14 Pro and WATCH Ultra).

iFixit opened and studied HomePod 2

The folks at iFixit disassembled the 2nd Gen HomePod and noted that Apple is using less glue and more bolts, making it easier to repair the speaker. The insides are still repairable, but exclusively with components made by Apple itself and its partners. The full version of the analysis of the novelty is available on YouTube:

People are looking forward to USB-C in the iPhone so much that they make it there themselves

So a South Korean engineer has created a monster by adding a fully functional USB-C port to the existing Lightning in the iPhone 12 mini. It’s already not the first master, which does something similar, but here the port is not instead of Lightning, but next to it. Because of this, he had to say goodbye to one speaker, but now you can simultaneously charge and listen to music through wired headphones 😁

It seems that it’s really time for Apple to add a USB-C port to the iPhone, otherwise all the technology is already ready, but the iPhone is still not there.

Rumors: Apple will certify USB-C, what new beats headphones, new 27” monitor is coming

According to rumors, even when Apple switches from Lightning to USB-C cables, the company will still make money on them. And this is expected. Some Chinese sources say that only cables that have the MFi (Made for iDevices) certification, which you need to buy from Apple, will work for the sync and fast charging capabilities. This is how it works now with Lightning cables.

Vintage certification is alive and will work even with USB-C

New beats headphones are coming out soon, but not completely new, but just Apple will add new colors to the Beats Fit Pro line of headphones in the near future. They will be available at the same price, in the old familiar form factor. By the way, they have USB cableunlike AirPods.

Colors: Tidal Blue, Volt Yellow and Coral Pink

According to other rumors, Apple is already preparing the release of a new 27 ”miniLED monitor with ProMotion support, it will possibly replace the Studio Display. The novelty can be announced along with the new Mac Pro, very soon.

The 27” miniLED monitor has been transferred for the third time, and now its production has already started

This is far from the largest display in the line, although you can’t take it with you either. But Apple used to make computers with a carrying handle! Such was, for example, the Apple iBook G3 Clamshell – one of the most unusual and unique laptops not only in the history of Apple, but also in the history of portable computers in general.

Skype will soon be adapted for Apple Silicom chips, and Halide allows you to take pictures without a “telephoto” lens

Microsoft began testing a new version of the legendary app file sharing Skype for macOS, which will finally support the Apple Silicon chips that were introduced 2.5 years ago.

How many of you still use Skype? For what? Why?

The company says the new app will run up to 3x faster on Macs with M1/M2 chips.

And here is the new app Halide Mark II can now take a photo at 2x zoom on an iPhone without a “telephoto” lens. An update to the Halide photography app has been introduced with a new “Neural Telephoto” feature that will use neural networks to simulate a telephoto lens on iPhones (SE to 14) that lack 2x zoom. The app will also be able to simulate higher zoom levels for the highest image quality. By default, the Halide Mark II will save photos in enhanced JPEG/HEIC or RAW format.

Thanks to Halide, your iPhone 11/12/13/14 camera now has a third lens, just like older Pro versions
