And how much does it cost to make a smart home with your own hands?

Guys, I just want to figure out how much it costs to make a smart home. Please do not throw slippers! This article about designing a smart home was just very hooked. In short, the IT craftsman himself designed a smart space in his apartment with control through the voice assistant Alice. Lighting for several scenarios in each room, a tuned hood in the kitchen, in the bathroom. And also sliding curtains (morning-evening, weekdays-weekends), underfloor heating, etc.

It impressed me a lot. I always believed that you can not spend money on a ready-made solution, but design everything for yourself. And it will turn out to be much more profitable. Plus, there is a purely male interest in doing everything yourself, studying, break firewood experiment. In short, it’s like playing robotics 🙂

The author does not provide estimates and does not yet answer questions about the financial costs of equipment. And I decided to calculate everything myself, copying the names of the equipment from the text.

The calculation is rough, since, for example, the number of voice assistants is not given (I assume that one Yandex-Station is not enough), it is not clear how to calculate in advance the number of dead zones, the cost of replacing wiring, etc.

In short, I will consider roughly what that author lists:

  • Giga router (KN-1010) is the main device. Price about 8100 rublesbut not found in stock. Analogues are offered for 3-5 thousand more.

  • Amplifier 1 Viva (KN-1910) – 7700 rublesalso out of stock, but what is nice – analogues seem to be half the price.

The author also mentions “smart” two-button switches (to control the light) and single-button switches (to control the hood).

The cost jumps from 400 r to 3000 r. There are solutions for working with Alice in the range up to 1900 rubles / piece. I pawn 5 pieces (but I suspect that it may take twice as much).

  • Yandex.Station columns. How many are needed – I do not understand yet. I think one is not enough. I deposit two. I suggest not to skimp and look after the model for 8000 rubles / piece.

· Three-core wires. Found offers ranging up to 2400 rubles for 50 m.

  • 50 m cable channel. I see prices from 70 to 400 rubles. Products are of above average quality. 200 r/m, total 10000 rubles for 50 m.

Let’s leave aside the time costs and the cost of tools (for example, they already have or are borrowed from a neighbor), the purchase of small consumables (plugs, adapters, etc.).
I sum it all up – it turns out 48 900 rubles!

Honestly, I expected to see twice the amount. Moreover, for a ready-made set of equipment and its installation, professional companies ask from 120,000 rubles (only for climate control!).

Dear readers! Who can tell if the calculations are correct? Is it realistic to meet the 50,000 rubles? And how soon will it pay off?
