100 days as a junior: how to gain trust

Show interest in

The juniors are favorably distinguished by showing interest in tasks and asking questions. It’s even cooler if they go beyond the scope of their task: they study the place of his task in the overall project, and not just the piece that they got. They ask not only what we are doing, but also why.

To be honest

Don’t be afraid to show if you don’t know something. On the contrary, this is a sure sign that you are developing rapidly. If you don’t understand, ask again. If you can’t cope, don’t be silent, but ask for help. In the beginning, everyone does not plan time well, this is normal.

Be independent

But before you ask, try it yourself: in the main, run the function, google before asking a question. So it’s better to ask a question and more effectively move forward on the task.

Don’t make excuses

It doesn’t matter to Lid that you saw the girl off to the train and that’s why you were late for the daily. It is better to spend time solving problems than looking for excuses.

Achieve results

It is important to understand that writing code is not solving a problem. What is expected of you as a result? What does it take to be accepted?

Write everything in a notepad

Everything that is explained to you, write down in a notebook. It seems that you already remember, but this is a trap. Don’t remember. Better write it down. A note-taking system or screen recording in Zoom will do. At live meetings, write by hand – this is a cool compliment to everyone who participates in the meeting. It’s nice when your words outline. Recording on a laptop or phone does not work: suddenly you are sitting in Telegram instead of listening carefully.
